Show OREM-GENE.VA TIMES Thursday, April 3, 1947 Add County, State Sectional Awards In 4-H Leadership Complying with the request of state 4-H Club leaders made through the Extension Sub- ommittee on 4-H work, awards on county, rm'Ae and sectional levels have been added ad-ded to the previous national recognition re-cognition in the 4-H Leadership Leader-ship program for 1947. The object of this program is to encourage, through 4-H Club Work, the development of leadership qualities essential to a progressive and wholesome rural life. The new awards, which are for one boy and one girl winner each in their county, state and extension section comprise gold metals of honor, gold watches and trips to the 1947 National 4-H Club Congres, Chicago, respectively. National awards, which remain re-main the same as in previous years, are $200.00 college scholarship to the first place boy and girl and $100.00 scholarships to the second place boy and girl, which together with the new awards are provided by Edward F. Wilson. In addition, the first place boy and girl will each be presented a silver trophy by H. A. Moses, to be held for one year. AND "Sweet and LOW" Musical Featuretie in Colox "Acqua Queens" sport reel-"Chick reel-"Chick and Double Check" cartoon Three Kinds of Givers Some witty person once said: "There are three kinds of givers giv-ers - the flint, the sponge, and the honeycomb." To get anything out of the flint you must hammer it, and then you only get chips and sparks. To get water out of the sponge you must squeeze it, and Ihe more you squeeze, the more you will get. But the honeycomb honey-comb just overflows with it own sweetness. Some people are stingy and hard; they give nothing away if they can help it. Others are good natured; they yield to pressure, and the more they are pressed the more they will give. A few delight in giving without with-out being asked at all, and of these the Bible says: "The Lord loveth a cheerful giver." Accusing Truth About England When I think of the oppression oppres-sion of the people of Britain in in former times and no'w of the darkness that so long lay upon that people, of a feudal aristocracy fighting and feasting feast-ing while the families of England Eng-land languished in poverty; when I think of little children driven to the first factories before be-fore day-light, and kept until after dark, condemned all their lives long to ignorance, all to I build the great Britist commer cial fortunes; when I think of social and ecclesiastical digni ties and rulerships built upon the brewing of beer and distilling distil-ling of whiskey: when I think of their rule of many land? turned to selfish extraction of wealth; when I think of the terrible struggle Britain's best men made for the least of human reforms, only to be killed, kill-ed, ostracised, broken-hearted for their efforts - when I think of the blood which Christian England has spilt of her heroic saints, I cannot sing a paeon of praise to Britain.
