Hair ' 5"H9MS SICK-' Hi Folks: v ' 1 guess you know what It Is to be homesick,. There's no defining the symptoms', for one minute you are feeling fine, you would swear you had never been homesick in your life; then you look with longing In the crowds for a familiar face, and they are all strange to you. There's no physical pain, no mental anguish just a feeling of the soul for some one, or some place near and dear to you-Or you-Or for someone that speaks your "language" It happened to me yesterday, I walked for blocks In the crowded S.L. shopping district, and click I was Inspired by a need for a coke. The drug store was crowded, my jsearch ing eyes scanned the dinejrs, and there sat Lillian McQuarrie author of "Half Angel". We talked for a long time of the strange character "Lotus" Lillian is much more exciting, she lifts and carrys you along to heights never dreamed of. For once a profound truth dawned on me; writers weave themselves them-selves into a 'character, a situation situ-ation an Interpretation Do by and read "Half Angel", and you will wait breathlessly for Lillian's next novel. "MEASURING FRIENDS" Did you ever stop to think we measure our friends by our own yardstick, so beware if you find them wanting It's human to err, and people are terribly humanand hu-manand it you take time to analyze folks its their shortcomings short-comings that endear them to you. If Johnny hankers for chocolate cake, you bake his favorite, or if mother's tastes are extravagant she adores French perfume, you indulge her to the limit Dad smokes a smelly old pipe, you xumor him Sister longs for pair of fri villous vi-llous spike heal slippers, "and you meditate, she .wilt surely break her neck if she trys to walk any distance" but you pamper her by spending your last dollar Just to see the Joy in her young eyes You Just adore people for their inconsistencies Yet you are sure you don't possess any -of these foolish notions no-tions that folks are heir to, they don't measure up to you,wdefin-itly you,wdefin-itly you are not that extravagant", extrava-gant", etc. etc ' Art Contest Conducted By Legion Auxiliary The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post No. 72 conducted a "Poppy Poster Campaign," during the past week in the three elementary schools of Orem, Spencer, Sharon, and Llndon. The contest was confined to the fifth and sixth grades.
