Representative Roylnnce has introduced n bill appropriating the sum of $1,000 to J W.Allan, of Springville. The bill recites that in the service of the Slate it the time of the bank robbery hero Mr. Allan lost his leg, and is unable to do bard labor for upport of a large family. The passage of this bill would be a graceful act, and would show soinu appreciation on the part of tho Stale authorities of the work of men who rik their lives in its defence. Senator Frank Cannon hns dug up the hatchet and is on the warpath in quest of Apostolic Apos-tolic scalps. He is vigorous, de fiant, etc, und possesses the ability to sny many mean things about his opponents. We remember the time when B II Roberts and Moses Thatcher were in much the same position. We also remember remem-ber what happened to them, and feel to make the prediction that Frank Cannon will eventually event-ually be forced to lino himself up meekly with the Apostles he now denounces so warmly. Something Utah lifts needul fur a long time is a law regulating regulat-ing the legal advertising business busi-ness (' the slate, for th" promotion pro-motion of both the public and the advertiser. Most of the Stairs in ih" union have stirh a law, and llieie is no reason why Utah should bo an exception. The Utah Press association has proposed such a tneoure, and it has been introduced in the Senate by Senator A 0 Smoot, of this county. The proposed law is a fair and reasonable one, and The Independent would re-peclfully urge i hat the bill be passed.
