Show anish CLOSING EXERCISES. School Ytar Ended at Spanish Fork, Last Friday. Spanish Fokk, April 23. (Tribune Corrrspondeoce)-Fnday last was the closing of our schools, and was an eventful one in the local educational circles. Great preparations had been made, by the teachers in the way of furninhlng a fine entertainment for tho occasion. The entire corps under the direction direc-tion of Principal J. A. ltees had their respective trades at the Central ready for the marah to the pavilion. Class colors were greatly in evidence, which succeeded admirably in mark-a mark-a pleasant distinction between the grades. A file four blocks long was entirely made up of the children, and the effect was very charming. After the seating in tho pavilion, the program pro-gram was rendered. The participants were mostly pupils, except the remarks by trustees and other prominent citizens, which bore high evidence of their regard for our public schools. The dumb-bell exercises, the spectacular sort furnished furn-ished by the "Japanese" were well displayed. Id all, the program was of the highest order, and met with the approval of the vast concourse which had gathered. The schools are in an excellent condition, con-dition, andmuch credit is due to the efficient body of teachers. About 400 promotions and graduation papers were given. A special training school begins Monday under the direction of the principal. A SPRINGVILLE STORY. How Two Spanish Fork Gallants Came to Grief. Over at Springville there is being told a story of love and serious adventure ad-venture in which two young Spanish Fork gallants are prominent tigures. For a number of moons, says the story, Ilalph Creer and Louis Evans had been welcome and regular visitors at the homes of a couple of Springville Spring-ville girls, and the evening of Thursday Thurs-day of last week found them still faithful in their attendance. The lads rode over on horseback, and hitched their steeds at the front gate of the lot whereon dwelt the inamorata inamo-rata of young Evans. Mr. Creer, following fol-lowing the promptiugs of his yearning young., heart, betook himself elsewhere. else-where. To young Evans and his girl the evening chased itself merrily away unheeded, and unheeded also were certain warning sounds from without, where, mischief, no longer afoot, was giving its attention to the horses. All things come to an end at last, even evenings of ecstatic bliss having a conclusion. Therefore the time came when Messrs. Creer and Evans said farewell and went to mount their horses. The horses were gone! Morning was fast approaching, and if they expected to get home before daylight there was no time to waste looking for horses, so the lads bravely footed it through six miles of dark to Spanish Fork. The next day a search discovered Creer's horse at home and Evans' cayuse up at Mapleton. The saddles, bridles and other equipments were foun t in all sorts of queer places at Springville. Springville must be a horrid, mean old town, and the resolution of one of the boys to stay away from there in the future seems very commendable. Backlen's Arnica Salve. This brings to mind the rumor that the young lady will soon don a wreath of orange blossoms, and that the fortunate fortu-nate young man is a resident of Alpine. We are anxious to do a little good in this world and can think of no pleasanter or better way to do it than by recommending One Minute Cough Cure as a preventative of pneumonia, consumption and other serious lung troubles that follow neglected colds. A very exciting runaway occurred near the Co-op grist mill last Tuesday morning. "Peterson has been troubled with his brain for months past and but lately, he says, whenever left by himself him-self he has an irresistible inclination to suicide, and is intent on doing so until he is again dissuaded by friends. He talks freely and is perfectly rational in his conversation, endeavoring endeav-oring to describe his feclingsat different differ-ent times. He says it is no use for people to tell him to cheer up; that he should get such notions out of his head, for he cannot do so. He begs not to be locked up, and as he expressed ex-pressed himself today, 'I haven't the least Inclination to hurt anybody or anything and I want to wor k around the yard, but please don't lock me up.'
