I Secretary Westwoud h Now In Com-. miinleatiou with rastern Capitalists Capital-ists Who are Willing To Build a Factor). " The indications at present are that in a short time the lahors (if the licet Sugar Grower's society of this Vlace will have borne fruit. Secretary Westwood received a letter a few days since which, when given publicity at the next meeting of the society on Saturday. August 7, will do a great deal towards raising the hopes to Springville farmers to the zenith of anticipation. Mr. Westwood has been in correspondence corres-pondence with parties in the East for some time relative to sutrar beet matters, and among others with a concern now known a? the American Sugar Beet Construction Company. Plenty of concerns were willing to take contracts to erect a factory, but for a long time none seemed to care to invest capital in the matter. fn Correspondence with Mr. West-wood, West-wood, the company above referred to, after giving various estimates, stated that they could find a company which would he willing to furnish capital and erect a factory, provided the citizens would donate a site, or take a certain amount of stock, to be paid for in beets or otherwise. Mr. Westwood is still in correspondence in retard to the matter. This is just what Sprin0rvil!e people are willing to do, and as previously related in the columns of the Independent, Inde-pendent, large subscriptions of beets, etc, have been received by the society's so-ciety's committee, which has the matter in hatid. If the matter developed deve-loped as at present anticipated, this is good news for this city. The Company, iri its. letter to Mr. Westwood, stated that the smallest sized factory which could he profitably operated and produce white, granulated granu-lated sugtsr, would be of a capacity of 300 tons per day of 24 hours, or like the Lehi factory. The cost of such a factory would be about $285,000. It would require a working capital of $30,000; in all 1315,000 would be needed to get the affair in operation. It would, no doubt, cost a little something for a factory site hero, hut all hands could well afford to be generous, even though two prices should be asked for desirable property. Further developments will be watched with interest, and the next meeting of the local society will no doubt he largely attended. Everybody Says So. Now it is proposed to have each meet in its own ward. S. P. Wilson and James Creer, Spanish Fork business men, were in town, yesterday, spying out the la.nl. An air of prosperity could be seen clinging to their garments, notwithstanding notwith-standing the terrible inroads "McKinley Prosperity" is making in this State. Except for a sensation or two brewing, Spanish Fork was quiet, they said. The Rio Grande Western sold about 800 tickets during the jubilee. That means that about $1000 was spent by Springville people for railioad fare on thisline alone. If each person spent 4, which is a reasonable estimate, there is $3,20) for expenses; in all $4,200. The Short Line carried some people, and a number went by wagons, wag-ons, bicycles, etc. Taken altogether it is probable that this jubilee drew on Springville for over $4,500. For all this there are still a few dollars in circulation here. Scrupulous StBvbolts.
