CROP INDrCATIONS GOOD EVERYWHERE EVERY-WHERE IN UTAH COUNTY. The weather here the past week has been favorable to growing crops; markets have been well supplied with home grown early vegetables. Strawberries Straw-berries are begi lining to ripen. A couule of days rain is badly needed. The weather and crop bulletin, dated May 24th, gives the following report from other sections of Utah county: Salem The light showers Mondav, Thursday and Friday did much good to enliven vegetation, but the rain was not sumeient to tiring up all the sugar beet seed. The ear ly garden products are thriving nicely, but some of the late planted vegetables are not up on account of I he dry soil. Farm products and fruits are thriving; watering wheat and lucern is the order or-der of the dav. American Fork A fine week up to Friday, when we had a nice sprinkling sprinkl-ing of rain, which made everything look nice and fresh: most of the corn is planted and fanners are prepai ing for potatoes: trow is a good time for spraying fruit trees. Lake Shore Good growing weather the past week; commencing to irrigate the grain crop; sugar beets corning up good; peas in blossom and other garden gar-den truck growing nicely; rain on 19th and 21st. Lake View Showers on the 201 h and 21st did a great deal of good to all garden seeds; replanting of sugar tieets finished: beets which withstood the late winds look well, strawberries are ripening fast; tomatoes are being set out; potatoes look good; pasturage for stock is plentiful. Payson Crops looking fine; strawberries straw-berries ripening; lucern soon ready to cut; light rain on the 21st was just the thing everybody wanted; late potatoes are being planted; corn is up and looking look-ing nicely. Lehi The past week has been generally gen-erally good for crops, and good progress pro-gress has been made in growth and work. Santaquin A nice growing week for watered crops, but rather dry for dry grain: light drizzle on 19th and 2uth: lucern about two feet high and no bloom yet; fruit doing well so far: apricots size of pigeon eggs: currants and gooseberries big enough to stew; cor n and potatoes up line. MACCABEES. All members of this order are requested re-quested to be present at the next regular review. Semi-annual election of officers takes place and other matter mat-ter of importance will be discussed. UTAH LAKE. Walter Scott, one of the Utah lake commissioners for Utah county, informed in-formed the News representative yesterday, yes-terday, that the water in the lake is no seven inches above compromise point and still rising fast, hundreds of acres of meadow and pasture land in this county are inundated, and as the prospects are that the water will continue to rise for another month there will be thousands of acres pasture land agricultural lands greatly damaged. Last year, Mr. Scott says, the highest point was readied about a month later than this. The water was then only two inches above compromise point, and, judging from the present appearances, this year it will be fifteen inehes above before the water begins to fall this season. There is considerable consider-able complaint by the land owners of this county, as they claim that little water is flowing down the Jordan river, considering the condition of the lake, and they believe the Salt Lake county canal companies (while they are only maintaining twenty-two twenty-two inches of plank in the new dam at the mouth of the Jordan as thev arc permitted to do under the decree of the court) have placed obstructions In the old dam, which is below the new dam, and thus obstruct the flow of the water from the lake to a greater extent than they are entitled to. In addition to the injury sustained by the people here on account of damage to the land surrounding the lake, fears arc entertained that when the water recedes sickness will he caused by the miasma-laden air which is bound to result from the evaporation of the water.
