It is indeed amusing to see the Enquirer's political antics, especially w lien its string puller happens to pull the wrong string which seem to have oc-cured oc-cured quite often lately. Mr. John Henry Stringpuller evidently got the lines somewhat some-what tangled when Ilolhrook's name came up for support, and some very grotesque whirls were the result, especially if its utterances utter-ances were paralleled with lhoe of '93 95, when its pet, Lsife Holhrook, the Silver nominee for Mayor, was up and his political poli-tical faith was in harmony with that of the Enquirer, and as it hoped, inspired from that sheet's sanctum. The nominees for Congress on both tickets are men above reproach re-proach as to private life, and the public services of both gentlemen are such as to give them a splendid idea of the relative rela-tive strength ol both the great parties in Utah. Both gentlemen are Millard county representatives, men whose attributes of gioamess were such that that county could not hold them, and Utah county is already too small for them, and we predict whichever candidate can-didate is defeated he is not down for long. The intrinsic worth of such men is too great for either a Salt Lake attorney or a Provo "mine host." JtEMENU'S CJOI, WELCOME. Springville lias again been favored with a visit from famous musicians this time Edouard Reraenyi and his brilliant com-pan com-pan jr. It is a regretablo fact that so few people in Springville are capable of appreciating the high order of music that was rendered last Monday evening by this trio of stars. Remenyi hes u world reputation and we feel sure that those who availed themselves of this opportunity will always feel as though it was money well spent. His rendi-tions rendi-tions were simply soul inspiring and at times his not very handsome hand-some face seemed to beam almost al-most supernatural, apparently reflecting the heavenly strains that were wrung from his violiu, and during any rendition he was apparently lost to all the world even the clock was stopped so that he should not be disturbed in bis devotions. Even if the en-tranced en-tranced figure did not compel the audience to be perfectly quiet, his superb music would perforce have done so. The lady vocalist and pianist were also high masters of the profession. Dave Felt of the Springville Independent Inde-pendent has his regular church and Mate sensation every year, ami this year la no exception. James Whitehead, White-head, one of the Itepuliilean nomi nees rroill iSpllliKVille on Hie roumy ticket, In the course of a uiscoiirse at the meeting house a few Sundays ago counseled the people to cast their ballots for the men who would practice economy and work for the best interests of theounty. As the Itepubllcan nominees are the only ones that are liable to do this FHt at once concluded that Whiteheed was electioneering for the Itepubllcan ticket. Hence he sprung his annual sensation. The foregoing elmOi was clipped from the Salt Lake Argus as Utah county political news; It is unnecessary to take much mef noticing uuch 'stuff." We will only say our criticism was offered before Mr Whirehead was nominated, hihI further, that Jas. Whitehead and Jas. B. Whitehead, the Republican Re-publican nominee, are two different dif-ferent persons; one is for Bryan and the other for McKinley, (both Republicans). The gentleman gentle-man criticised is a silver Republican, Repub-lican, hence is our choice of politicians regarding silver; the other a personal friend of the editor, hence the far fetched conclusions fall to the ground. The Herald has gone Republican, Repub-lican, to judge by hut Sunday's edition. Mr. Holhrook, the Republican Re-publican nominee to Congress, has a fulsome write up of bis qualities, an execrable engraving of himself and a woi-jh one of his charming wi'e. Ii is Imrd to understand the object of this "pull" for Mr. ILiibmok, nut wi re we not, so well acquainted with the nominee urn! his hij;b standing of integrity, wt should be of the opinion he had bought the Herald. The Independent desires to have it distinctly understood that it had no possible reference to the presiding officers or any other person when the criticism was offered regarding the sermon given by Elder Jas. Whitehead Nor do we desire to he understood under-stood as meaning Jas. B Whitehead White-head who wh uomin:;!: 1 o:i the Republican ticket. Last Friday morning it was announced an-nounced that the Itepubllcan County committee had made another change in the personnel of the Utah County ticket, necessitated by the resignation resigna-tion of C. E. Loose, of Frovo, the candidate can-didate for State Senator. Prof. Geo. II. Brimhill, of the B. Y. A., has been chosen to fill the vacancy. Mr. Loose gave as his reason for re-signing, re-signing, press of business. He says: Having no political aspirations I whatever, and all the business I can roesibly sc to, outtlde ol rolrttcs, I " Merit talk." the intrinsic value of Talks Hood's Sarsaparilli Merit in medicine means the power to care. Hood's Sarsaparilla possesses actual and unequalled curative power and therefore there-fore it has true merit.
