Show CHI HCH ITEMS. After the usual ceremonies Elders Wtu. Branimul and Jas. Whitehead were called to the stand, Elder Brain-lual Brain-lual being the first speaker. He was sorry that the Latter-day Saints were slowly but surely drifting into the ways of the world. The jjreat gospel net catches all kinds of people and we must see that if evil are among us beware that you are not led estray. The great landman for the faithful Is revelation. He was proud to have faith in all that is taught. The speaker referred to his missionary experiences, ex-periences, quoted from a recent article In the Deseret News on "Women," which the speaker thought was worthy wor-thy of attention from all. Closed with a fervent hope that all should remain faithful to the end. Elder Jas. B. Whitehead was pleased pleas-ed with the remarks of Brother Brammal on the subject of revelation, revela-tion, was sorry to see so few present. Spoke on the great faith of the late Father Dibble and the many testimonies testi-monies of this aged veteran. Spoke at length on the various duties of the Saints. Was afraid the great wave of pleasure that seems to be carrying so many people was destined to work more evil than any other trouble that Is likely to result. Faith and secr2t prayer is the great meaus to attain the glorious end. Speaker assured the people of the uearness of the coming of the Savior. Many people of today will live to st" this day, the feigns are surelv now in full play; hoped hop-ed that the Saints would realize the nearness of this great event wheu Christ shall reign and there would be no more death, no more graves to dig and peace reign during themilleniuiu. EVRNING 8EKVICE8. On Sunday evening the meeting began promptly at 8 p. m., even too' but few were on hand. If this is followed fol-lowed up the people will soon realize that meetings will begin on time and that coming after the time set, will nuke them late; hence meeting disturbers. dis-turbers. The speaker selected for the evening services was Elder C. D. Evans, a gentleman whose oratory would shine in any land. There would certainly have been a larger audience had the selection of Elder Evans been announced during the day or better still In The Independent. The speaker took for his theme the subject of science, showing in his clear, forcible manner that science and religion are so closely allied that It requires a close observer to distinguish, distin-guish, dillerence.all intelligent people peo-ple who do not believe the goepel as taught by Jesus and by Joseph Smith or bis successors have only looked on one side of the question, hence while even Bob Ingersoll may be right as far as he knows still if he were to study both tides with some faith he would know of its truth the faith would then be a case of absolute knowledge. Every man can know of a surity if he only exercise a little faith, cultivate faith and positive knowledge will be the Inevitable result. re-sult. The speaker demonstrated fully his position during the whole course of his remarks showing that faith is the mainspring to all action whether in temporal or spiritual matters. How's TMs? It U but youthful, and Its members are but children In politics, etc. Yet It has been a thorn in the side of many a good honeet soul, and a source of wonder won-der and comment among many, who suppose we meet together to talk about the men, and tear their good characters to atoms. IW mistaken creatures they are farthest from our thoughts on such occasions. Such people never come near to satisfy themselves as to our good Intentions, tad our efforts to Improve and lift ourselves from the mire of Ignorance and superstition; but hiding their heads give way to morbid forebodings i, I v frrlhle state of society which ..' '.Lla jo" en, an.l positively td.-claie they "don't want their wives and daughters to go Uicre and get stuffed with nonsense."' A careful investigation would alter the views of many without going into detail as to the aim of the association I wish to say this is no woman's question. ques-tion. This is a great human quest ion and the successful issue of it will enable en-able all who understand it. We believe be-lieve the W. S. A. is the outcome of an intelligent and educational campaign. cam-paign. Women are becoming more alive every day to the necessity of political knowledge, equal educational education-al advantages. Carlyle said "the world's need is justice, and I don't. see how we can be unwcunauly in striving to do justice to ourselves. It is a demonstrated fact that woman as even man, has brains and for many years she has made it evident that she not only passed mental powers, but knows also how to use it with success. Place after place in the upward flight has been hardly won. and woman has well nigh reached the platform of originally origin-ally God given equality, with man. Is not woman as much interested in the safety and welfare of the state, as her brother and husband, and is it not quite as necessary that she should understand un-derstand the laws that govern them? Ignorance is no excuse for the transgression trans-gression of the laws of the state and the mere question of the sex makes no diffcreuce before the bars of justice. - Citizen.
