Automobiles "cruised" into the city from Evanston, Ogden, Salt Lake City and Provo to participate partici-pate in the car show. Some Coalville business owners say the Supercruise is the biggest day of the year - rivaling the Summit County Fair and crowded days at nearby near-by Echo Reservoir. "V. i,. - TW " -, II Nonprofits receive Room Tax grants from County By PATRICK PARKINSON Of the Record staff The Summit County Commission recently gave 10 organizations Transient Room Tax money. The mid-year grants range from $500 to $5,000. Lodging stays generate Transient Room Tax revenue in Summit County and the Park City ChamberBureau is the largest recipient. During two cycles each year the County Commission grants the tax revenue to other nonprofit, non-profit, tourism-related organizations. organiza-tions. Here is a list of June 30 recipients: Coalville Area Business Association received two $1,000 grants to help fund the city's annual Supercruise and fishing derby. , Mountain Town Stages received $5,000 to promote live music throughout Summit County. South Summit Rodeo Team received $500 to promote a high school rodeo in the Kamas Valley. Summit County Dairy Princesses received $500 to help fund events. Oakley Rodeo received $5,000 for event promotion. Park CitySummit County Arts Council received $5,000 for event promotion. Park City Historical Society and Museum received $4,740 to help fund the publication of guidebooks for self-guided tours in Park City. Echo Community Historical Organization received $5,000 to help fund historic restoration in the town. Peda Recreation Special Service District received $5,000 to promote the Peoa Stampede. Jeremy Ranch resident Boris Lyubncr, founder of The Endurance 100 said the County Commission is still discussing whether to fund his $5,000 request to help promote a 100-mile 100-mile mountain bike race scheduled sched-uled in western Summit County on July 24. "It's quite important," he said, about the impact the grant would have on future races. "It will help me with bigger planning and bigger big-ger advertising." Lyubner claims The Endurance 100. Inc. is a nonprofit non-profit organization but the County Commission was concerned con-cerned about a monetary surplus generated by the event. Commissioner Bob Richer said the application was resubmitted resub-mitted and a decision on the grant will likely be made July 14.
