How to Get a Drink in Utah The image of the West was forged, in part, by two-fisted two-fisted drinkers pushing through swinging doors and bellying up to the bar. Park City was no different. In fact, there were 22 saloons on Main Street at the turn of the century. People in Park City have a fine tradition of knowing how to drink. It doesn't take much to feel like a local hi pursuit of liquor if you just remember a few simple rules. - FIRST-you can get anything you want to drink at a state liquor store. We have two full service stores. Located at 1901 SIDEWINDER in PROSPECTOR SQUARE, 649-7254, and at 528 MAIN STREET in the ) OLD TOWN section of town, 649-3293. From champagne to wine coolers, vermouth to vodka, they stock it all. You can even get full strength beer here ( beers sold in the markets is about half strength-3 2 alcohol). So far, so easy. SECOND-most restaurants in Park City can serve you a drink-just ask. Nw legislation has made it incredibly civilized-for Utah anyway t You can get your favorite beverage brought right to your table But the funny little glitch is this-you gotta ask. Waitpersons can't ask you. Dumb? You bet, but we've learned to play the game, It what you see appears to be a bar you could become easily confused. We have two variations. Until July of 1991 it is still legal to bring your own mini (airline-size bottle of liquor sold at the state stores) In these places, and they will give you a "setup". "set-up". That means you'll pay a buck or more for water or tonic or a Coke with nothing in t. Dumb too, but that's ti-.e law. Some bars, In fact most in Park Ctfy, are actually private clubs. It means ta drink there you must be a member or epoBaored by & member.
