Matheson is urging Utahns to increase their energy consciousness con-sciousness by designating October as "Energy Month." The four-week observance obser-vance will feature a variety of activities designed to promote energy conservation conser-vation and innovation. "Until Americans significantly reduce their dependence on foreign oil supplies, we remain economic hostage to the OPEC nations," Matheson warned. "Foreign policy decisions, economic well-being well-being and future prosperity are all threatened by our frightening reliance on foreign sources of energy." Matheson said October is a time for Utahns to examine energy profligacy and cut back energy consumption wherever possible. Car-pooling, Car-pooling, riding the bus, lower thermostate settings and home and office improvements im-provements which will maximize energy efficiency are excellent methods of reducing energy consumption, consump-tion, he added. "We should remain mindful that our destiny is not our own as long as foreign countries control our lifeblood," the governor said.
