Torry Hollinger told police he was adjusting his tape deck September 28, and when he looked up at the road, it was too late. He hit a parked 1964 Alfa Romeo near the intersection of Comstock Road and Little Bessie Avenue, sending the RECYCLE ALUMINUM If you care, bring your cans, foil etc., to the wooden box east of Mt. Steve Peterson The filth in this city. By filth I mean dirt. You'd think with all the money being collected from the builders that the city could afford af-ford to keep the streets clean. Jo Scott The parking and traffic problems for one. Another would be public recreation, namely a public swimming pool. Violet Terry I'm most concerned about how development projects have created problems for older people, like making travel through town more difficult. I'm not against progress but some consideration should be given to people. Tom Ligare I'd like to see the candidates address ad-dress the problem of the citizen's council and the legality of their methods. Keith Cooley There are two issues I'd like to see dealt with: The tight housing situation for lower income residents and the need for' sidewalks on Park Ave. Chastity Julander Zoning. There are too many high density developments and builders are now beginning to crowd the mountains with projects. We need more restrictions on building. vehicle about 67 feet down the road. In other police action A 1976 Subaru station wagon driven by Bonita Peretti of Park City sustained $1,000 damage when Parkite Vicki Ross crashed into the back of the car. Ms. Ross told police her foot stuck between the gas pedal and the brake when she tried to slow down. The accident, which occurred near the intersection of Park W 66T W tet Avenue and 14th Street, caused $50 damages to Ms. Ross' car. Tools valued at $259 were apparently stolen from Mike Lund of Salt Lake City September 25. Lund told police he hired a 43-year-old man to work on the Park Station Hotel project now under construction construc-tion and supplied the man with tools. Later in the day both the tools and the man were missing, and Lund went to the Holiday Inn where the new employee was staying. He discovered the suspect had checked out, leaving a $90 balance. The missing tools included tape measures, a screw gun and screws. Larry Holman of Salt Lake City reported to police that he was robbed of various pieces of athletic equipment from his Datsun 260 September 15. Stolen from the car parked in the Holiday Inn lot were a Wilson T 3000 tennis racquet, Arnold Parlmer woods, Wilson X31 irons and a Zebra The Snowflakers Ball Is Coming! Betty June Kiley of Salt Lake City reported the theft of a gum ball machine and a candy machine from two local establishments September Sep-tember 25. The machines, valued at $140, were located in the Mt.! Air,. Cafe and AdolphJs Restaurant. They belonged to the Utah Rehabilitation Association, and Ms. Kiley was collecting money from the machines on behalf of the association. Overhead lights mounted moun-ted on top of a Sunn Classic prop car were broken September Sep-tember 27, with the repair bill estimated at $350. Security director for the movie company, Garth Wilkinson, told police the prop police car was parked near Swede Alley and had been vandalized. The car recently had been used in the filming of "Earthbound" on Main Street, and in that role had had a telephone pole fall on it. J HoO cm?. Sit. Mail Clarification Editor: In order to clarify any misunderstanding which may have arisen regarding the handling of incorrectly addressed mail I wish to publicly state that incorrectly incorrect-ly addressed mail is not being automatically returned, re-turned, but we are attempting attempt-ing to do our best in processing process-ing the ever-growing mafl volume for Park City. However How-ever I have noted that many postal customers using post office box delivery continue to receive mail addressed To their street address, or simply Park City, Utah, rather than a box number. And this is causing us a great deal of concern as well as resulting in some misdelivery mis-delivery and-or delay in mail delivery. It is our desire and our intent to make every effort to accomplish accurate accur-ate mail delivery. I sincerely appreciate The cooperation of the residents of Park City who have Appreciation Editor: We wish to express our sincere and warmest appreciation ap-preciation to the many friends and loved ones who so generously gave their love, assistance and sympathy sym-pathy to us in the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. We are grateful for the Nobody But Mary Editor: I can't imagine anyone but Mary with gall enough to use statements as "The big lie" and "tactics of Adolph Hitler" when they are exactly exact-ly what she is using in her letter of Sept. 20. She states "...an example where the owner had lost the use of his land...", not true, access to his property had been worked out to his satis faction' between" the parities' in question as Mr. Fletcher' agreed at the "council meet" ingonSept. 6. She also states that the "city attorney... told the city council... that the evidence... disclosed that the annexations annex-ations were illegal." Again, not true. His words were "Could be illegal". He happens hap-pens to be an intelligent enough attorney to know he doesn't make the final decisions deci-sions regarding interpretations interpreta-tions of the law as Mary tries to. Another example of Mary's arrogance in this regard is in her statement that "...proof that the parcels... were illegally annexed...". I haven't heard of any court handing down such a decision, deci-sion, or even being asked to. She claims not to be using stalling tactics and yet this so-called "proof" letter should have been in her hands shortly after the postmark of August 16. Why then did she wait until the meeting of Sept. 6 to bring this matter to the city's attention? TV coverage perhaps? per-haps? Mary was right on one count, however, regarding the city's disregarding state law on vacating public streets. The city has for . years been giving away V&C StT' u 1 aPPau- l violation of Utah law which states that municipalities Ector notified their correspon nts to use their box number as a mailing address. And I am also grateful to the business-, men and businesswomen of! Park City who have cooperated cooper-ated with the Post Office in an effort to reduce the volume of mail which arrives ar-rives at Park City incorrectly incorrect-ly addressed. We will continue con-tinue to investigate new methods to improve mail service, and we will attempt to make the adjustments necessary due to our rapid growth as painless as possible. pos-sible. I have prepared a letter which will be distributed distri-buted to all boxholders explaining the problem which we've encountered. If I can be of any assistance to you in solving your mail delivery problems, please contact me. Sincerely, Bryon L. Johnson Postmaster beautiful flowers, to those who participated in the funeral service and for every kind act and expression of sympathy to help make our sorrow easier to bear. Also, we extend a special thanks to Olpin Mortuary for their kindness and thoughtfulness. The family Welch of Robert J. may dispose of municipal property in any reasonable manner, but municipal property may not be given away unless it has no value. One of my first council actions was a losing NO vote on giving away a vacated street that was larger than many Park City lots selling in excess of $8,000. The rest of the council was acting on information from one of the former city attorneys'4 don't know which one who, said vacated land had to be given away. Since then I have been successful in convincing the rest of the council that this information was erroneous and procedures have been adopted for the land sale price, if vacation is approved, ap-proved, to be determined by a certified appraiser or by three independent appraisals apprais-als made by Park City real estate brokers. For those of you who may be new in town, and wondering wonder-ing what's going on, Mary shows up in Park City from her home in Salt Lake City, every two years about two months before election. After causing Park City's recession four years ago with her moratorium and losing her race for mayor to Leon Uriarte and attempting an unsuccessful write-in campaign for council two years ago she's back this year with the Citizens Council as her gimmick. As a full time resident of nearly seven years who cares about Park City and wants everyone to continue to enjoy it here, I am asking for the support of all the responsible citizens of the community in the upcoming election on October 9. Sincerely, DickShoff MfflT. i'a W OK U7 |
