The special meeting will be held July 26, 1979, at 7 p.m. at the Prospector Square Conference Center. Cen-ter. Interested residents of Park City are encouraged en-couraged to attend the meeting. FAMILY PLANNING The Summit County Family Planning Clinic for this month will be held on July 25 at the Park City Resort emergency medical facility. The services include: 1) PAP test for cervical cancer, can-cer, 2) pregnancy testing, 3) venereal disease testing, 4) infertility counseling, 5) breast examination and instructions on self-breast examination, 6) diagnosis and treatment of vaginal infections, 7) contraceptives and 8) counseling and health education. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale according to income. Persons wishing more information andor an appointment are invited to contact the Health Department in Park City at 649-9072. VOLLEYBALL CLINIC The Salt Lake Stingers are holding a Volleyball Clinic for all high school girls interested in playing on next year's team. It will be Wednesday, Wed-nesday, July 25th at 1 p.m. in the High School gym. MISS MINER'S DAY PAGEANT Applications are now available at the Chamber of Commerce for the Labor Day Miss Miner's Day Pageant. Applications must include a black and white photograph and can be turned in no later than August 17th. Girls will be judged on talent, appearance, and presentation of self. Following the Ride and Tie Saturday The Newspaper asked six weary contestants con-testants if they thought the race proved to be worth the weeks of preparation, and the pain of the event itself. Also asked : Will you enter next year? Dana Landale Oh sure, it was worth it, but I probably won't do it next year. Beverly Ross Yes, it was worth it. No comment on whether I'll do it next year. Vicki Ross I would like to do it again next year. This year we had some trouble in the race; though we were first at the first tie we came in last at the end because we missed a tie. Norm Schoenherr Yes, Marit Glenne We worked really hard but it was worth it. I thought it neat to be part of a team rather than running alone. Julie McKay It was not be. I'll do it again. as hard as I thought it'd year but it's difficult to ARTS FESTIVAL MERCHANDISE The Arts Festival logo is being made available this year to all licensed Park City businesses for use on merchandise of their choice. The Arts Festival will not be producing any Festival merchandise mer-chandise this year, but rather will be encouraging en-couraging all Park City businesses to manufacture manufac-ture and market merchandise of their choosing with the logo on it. Ml i l m,Um ; Norm Schoenherr Marit Glenne: mm M (Only signed letters will be published A Personal Letter A personal letter to Ride and Tie Team 16 Greg Lawson, Ken Clausen, the wonderful Al Hurrah, and to Julie and Tika and all who were close: We'd like to extend our sincere sympathy to you, your pit crew and all other persons closely involved with you on the tragic loss of your teammate, Al Hurrah. There is no planning without with-out a flaw somewhere and despite the concern and time and knowledge put into developing a race that would challenge and be safe for man and animal, we all know that there is an element of risk involved in training for such an event, and even though every precaution was taken by everyone involved to avoid just such a tragedy, Big Al somehow slipped by us all. But, even in his passing, he left for all of us a legacy of the essence of the true spirit of competition and team 28 Miles Uphill' Editor: Thanks to: The Race Committe who managed to lay out a 30-mile 30-mile course with 28 miles uphill. Joe Maloney, who spent 8 hours on top of the Mountain, waiting. It was good to see your ugly face. Ed Sail, whose car got stuck on Bald Mountain, hitched hitch-ed a ride, walked and ran, met the team with refreshment. Sandy Jackson whose encouragement at the 20th mile made me believe I could finish. Ross Bampton, who ran the last ten miles with me. I needed the company. com-pany. We have one of the best possible climates for it. It costs little more to design a house to be passive solar than conventional. conven-tional. From all of you has come the true spirit of a total team something for all competitors and committee members to seek and emulate emu-late in future races. We hope you know how much we care! Linda Offret, whose expert instruction, patience and sometimes not-too-gentle prodding, taught me how to ride a horse. Pat Korogi, best friend and roommate, who massaged sore tendons and a bruised psyche, talked me out of quitting, found Dave Gobel, formed and organized the best damned pit crew of the race, gave up weekends and terminal blisters on her heels. I feel it is very likely that non-solar homes will be obsolete in 30 years. Solar radiation could now provide 740 percent of our annual energy needs in the U.S. It is non-polluting, everlasting, cheap and abundant.
