If so, call The Newspaper at 649- , - r j " - Yes, Park City has a big brotherbig Sister program. Started by the first Palefire director Taylor Hartman in 1974, the "Friends of Palefire" program is organized along the lines of the Big Brothers of America, although not directly af filiated with the national program. The Park City "Friends of Palefire" program currently has 30 big brothers and sisters aged 15 and up who are placed in a one-to-one relationship with children 7 to 14 years of age. "The big brother and sister," explained Palefire director Marsha Wellever, "is based on the premise that these one-to-one relationships, child-to-adult, help prevent juvenile delinquency." All big brother and sister, volunteers undergo a ' training session and sign a contract to spend at least four hours every two weeks with their little brother or sister. Group activities such as movies, Lagoon trips, parties, par-ties, game nights and roller skating are held monthly. A hayride is scheduled to take place within the next two weeks. "This is an activity program geared toward fatherless children," Wellever commented, "but all children are welcomed." "Many kids are referred by the school or by parents, but this need not be the case," she added. Big brothers are needed badly at this time according to the Palefire director. Not only is the Blue Mouse devoting its entire schedule to high quality films, but Utah 3 is now scheduling films of the same caliber. The serious film buff can only be overjoyed by these recent developments, as a vacuum has finally been filled for those that consider film as an art form. There will be a comedy at the Blue Mouse this week when Alan Tanner's Jonah Who. Will be 25 in the Year 2,000 comes to the screen. The film is described as a tragi-comedy , about eight veterns of the '68 French Revolution. Meanwhile, Utah 3 has been running Black and White in Color, a highly acclaimed documentary about the tense racial situation in South Africa. The film will probably end Oct. 7th, so try to see the film very soon. On Friday, Utah 3 opens with Cria, starring Geraldine Chaplin. The film has received tremendous critical praise for both the acting and directing. Other films coming to the Blue Mouse in the near future include Nicolas Roeg's Walkaboat, Claude Lelouch's And Now My Love, Truffaut's Two English Girls, Fellini's Amarcerd and Bergman's The Passion of Anna, while Utah 3 is bringing Altman's 3 Women, Jean-Charles Tachella's Cousin Cousine and Bolognini's La Grande Bourgeoise. One special feature of the Blue Mouse that this critic finds especially welcome is their policy of showing shorts before the feature. There are many fine films that languish unseen because the commercial outlets find them unprofitable. The Blue Mouse obviously feels that these films are important enough to pay the added expense, since they have included one before every feature. Anyone who has spent much time in Utah after being accustomed to the accessibility of foreign cinema houses in other cities must appreciate what is now occurring in Salt Lake. After years of frustration, the feeling might be that Salt Lake is going through a period of overindulgence. Overindulgence? Pshaw! Now is the time for one- to- catch up-with- the rest' of civilization.- CONDOMINIUM FOR TRADE: We would like to stay in Park City for a month or 1 Vt months this ski season.
