"Every effort to complete the plan at "some indefinite time in the future" will be made," Sloan remarked. "This will be the finest learning center of it's type in the country." He said the intent of the facility is to "make Park City a summer area." He added that 5,300 reservations were received last year before it was known that lack of financing would prevent construction. One other change is the exclusion of hostel units which were part of the original plans. These have been replaced with "motel-type" units. "We felt we couldn't support the learning center with hostel units," Sloan said. He noted that the hostel units might be included when the project is Completed as they are felt to be justified economically. In addressing the Planning Commission at it's non-decision-making work session, Sloan said, "No one is trying to play any tricks. I hope we can continue as if we still have the same approval." Trans. Royal Street had originally proposed that the access road go through City Grove in return for a cash payment to improve the rest of the park, but the offer was rejected by city officials. The road was the re-routed to skirt the park to the south. King said the new route is not immediately adjacent to Hansen's land and that Royal Street had offered to buy back the lots, but was turned down. King said plans for the subdivision were "in total compliance" with city ordi-ances ordi-ances and that "we've worked work-ed very hard to find good access." "I don't know where we go from here," King added. In his letter to the Planning Commission, Hansen cited three major objections. He claimed no provision had been made for the traffic impact on Payday Drive caused by the 36 homes planned for the Thaynes Canyon III subdivision. Hansen also contended that City Grove should not be disturbed and said there was a dispute "over a boundary line of the proposed subdivision. subdivi-sion. Chairman Burnis Watts said the Planning Commission Commis-sion would have to determine if the matter should be handled by the commission or settled between Hansen and the Developer. Representatives have three days to voice any objections. The proposal missed the February 9 deadline for introduction when Nemelka was taken ill and city officials were pessimistic over its chances of being considered. But a concerted effort by local officials and business people brought the bill before the Senate. "I wouldn't have given it a one-in-fifty chance when we started this adventure," City Treasurer Bruce Decker said Tuesday. Decker and Ctiy Manager Wayne Matthews spent Monday at the Legislature lobbying for the bill and answering an-swering questions. To date, the measure has caused little controversy and aroused no formidable objections. Optimistic if not . confident, Decker remarked, "It just might pass . ' ' Decker said he felt the bill has "good support." He and Matthews made tentative ten-tative plans to spend today at the Legislature talking to potential opponents opponen-ts of the measure. The route of an access road to the proposed Thaynes Canyon III subdivision was protested at the Park City Planning Commission's Wednesday night meeting. Mr. Andrew Hansen, who had sent the commission a letter of protest, appeared at the meeting and said the road would "take away the aesthetics" of the area. He expressed concern over the noise, traffic and car lights which he said would be brought close to his property by the road. Hansen purchased two lots in the Thaynes Canyon area from the Royal Street Land Company. Royal Street is the developer of the Thaynes Canyon III subdivision.
