Resort and lodging personnel person-nel report that advance bookings an- well ahead of test year and that only a inow drought can preclude a Banner winter. ".Hoping to get the season off on the right ski as soon as possible, Park City Ski Corp. Marketing Dirctor Craig Badami said Monday "We will open the day there's enough snow to ski." 2'It doesn't have to be at the bottom, I f there's one lift and one run that is skiable we'll be open." The Resort's "official" opening day is November 19. liast year's - successful season combined with the addition of the Ski Team chairlift and the opening of Jupiter Bowl make this goal attainable. Badami observed. The Chamber of Comerce's central reservations center . has been , a 'tremendous boon" to the Resort in getting a feel for the scope of the upcoming season, Bad-ami Bad-ami said. He noted that his contacts indicate that the town not only has more bookings but has also been "booked earlier." V One Resort objective has been to bolster the historic- . ally slow post Christmas-New Christmas-New Year's weeks in January and success in this area has been gratifying. A group of 1,000-l.SOO students from the Midwest , Collegiate Ski Association will descend upon Park City the first week in January. The following i week Park , City will host Interline Week, the annual gathering-of gathering-of airline personnel. The presence of these two groups will provide an increase over last season's early January business during dur-ing which time Badami said there was "not as much of a letdown as expected." The Resort sold an average of 16,000 day passes per week in January '76 which compares com-pares to the 2000 weekly March average and the obese 30,000 figure for the Christmas-New Year's week. Badami also noted that season passes are selling more briskly this year and attributes the increase to the new lifts, Jupiter Bowl and even the paving of the upper Continued on Page S Water Bond Election Now Needed Park City Manager Wayne Matthews announced Monday Mon-day that the city will have to hold a bond election to secure a $300,000 water improvement improve-ment loan from the Farmers Home Administration. The loan has already been approved by FHA and the Park City Council and it was only recently discovered that .. a bond election must be parsed before the city can accept the money. A special public meeting of the city council will convene this Thursday night at 6:30 to set a date for the bond election and it is expected tjiat the bond issue will be placed on the November 2 general election ballot. In 1974, when the city first began its efforts to secure the loan, provisions of the Granger Act required only council approval for the loan indebtedness but court rulings rul-ings since that time make a public vote mandatory. Matthews said that, if passed, the $300,000 bond issue would be purchased by FHA, as was planned before the election requirement was revealed. He noted that the election will not affect the terms or the amount of the loan. The 8300,000, which city officials thought was all but in the municipal coffers, would be used to upgrade the water distribution system in the older section of Park City and to install water meters in homes and businesses. Matthews said both segments seg-ments of the water improvement improve-ment plan are sorely needed. mi CITY GOVERNMENT SKI NEWS SCHOOL NEWS LOCAL SPORTS EDITORIAL COMMENT REAL ESTATE CLASSIFIEDS PUBLIC NOTICES TELEVISION LISTINGS HOW ABOUT IT?
