Park City Mayor Leon Uriarte honored Sellier "for his major achievements in the motion picture industry and his contributions to the community." . . ; For the "Noah's Ark" adventure, the entire cast of 71 was drawn from Utah residents. Sellier flew in arcteological, anthropolog ical, and other scientific experts to film their commentaries com-mentaries about the Ark on locations at the University of Utah. He set up a sound stage in Park City and shot scenes in- the Empire Room of the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. For "Noah", the Oquirrh Mountains doubled as Mt. Ararat, Biblical landing site of the Ark. The legendary ship was reconstructed on the mountain of Tooele, on the opposite side from the Ken ecott Copper Mine. On "Frontier, Freemont" Sellier gave the historical Mountain Men Club of Salt Lake a chance to act out their most cherished fantasies. The western lore experts were technical advisors on the movie, provided authentic costumes and props, and played mountain men of the period in the 1890's wilderness adventure. Sellier returns to Park City whenever possible to relax amid the Aspen trees and to. write new film stories like "Guardian of the Forest" or the projected "Saga of Johnny Appleseed". He is also writing a book about hard rock mining from an interest in historic mine sites which he developed while scouting for locations around Utah. - r,'i .... f. j'M .t v .n- jptr I City Ruggers Rip Provo Side The Park City Rugby Football Club, putting across three first half trys and two second half trys, maintained their dominance of theProvo Griffins R.F.C. Saturday, prevailing 26-8. Allen Terry reached the in-goal in-goal in both stanzas, diving on a loose ball to open the scoring, and breaking through on a long-distance second half run after a fine setup by Scott Thompson. Thompson also found a gap for a try of his own late in the game. Provo scored early in the final period to close gap to 14-8. 14-8. Park City with the quick trys by Terry and Thompson was soon to put the contest out of reach. The first half featured the Mucker's intelligent use of the wind advantage which allowed them to play in the Provo half of the pitch for the balance of the forty minutes. Rick Phalur and Dave Sundquist contributed first period scores which led to Park City's 14-4 half time advantage. The Muckers will face Snake River Rugby Football Club Saturday at 6 p.m. at the City Park. Snake River, persently one of the best club sides in the Western United States, had recently upset Santa Monica Rugby Club of California, perennially rated the top side in the state. .. it fV 4 |
