The Ladies' Home Journal has se cured the American rights of Anthony An-thony Hope's new romance, "The Countess Emilia," and will begin its publication in the May issue. It is the best romantic story that the famous novelist has written since "The Prisoner of Zenda." "The Countess Emilia" is not unlike its predecessor in style and treatment and in its action. Its motif is that of the marriage relation. It wil. be illustrated by Alice Barber Stephens, and will run in the Journal throughout through-out the summer. Fourth ward society ci c -s were excited ex-cited yesterday by a rumor announcing announc-ing the marriage of Frank Parry and Miss Orissa Curtis down in Millard county, where they are travelling with the Johnson & Houtz Co. Extremely low prices of admission ad-mission are made. Reserve seats 50c; Admission 50c and 25c. Concert promptly at 8:15. Here is what the cretical music editor of the Chicago Pod says, "All in the all program at the Chicago Orchestra's concert was the most enjoyable of the season. When Paderwsky was here and called attention to Godowsky it was. then admitted that ' his artist had hardly received the notice he deserved. His triumph came yesterday though. ?Ue won a most emphatic indorsement from a cold and critical audience in the Auditorium. Were Godowsky eudowed with a more generous mat of hair, were he willing to pose and were he hysterically emotional he would become a fad iu a month. Standing strictly on his merits however he has won a position among the foremost pianists of the day. Godowsky makes his instrument speak out to you and it speaks with eloquence too! of technic he is appar ently master.and the ease with which he started in the first movement1 Jwas deceptive. Godowsky's touch is mar-vclously mar-vclously soft aud firm by turns. His agility is a source of wonder. The reception extended him was a deserv ed tribute to a splendid exhibition of piaaism. Godowsky was recalled time and again and finally consented, by aid of Mr. Thomas' graciousness, to give a Saint-Saens selection." Godowsky plays only upon r the maguiflcent "Knabe" piano which is alwavs witb him on his tours. He has also the luxury of his own piano tuner who tunes the piaoo . before every performance.
