He will speak in church on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 in the Stake Center at 350 N. 400 East, Springville at 1 p.m. Tawny Lott, daughter of Thayne and Bobbie Lott of Springville, has been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints in Recife, Brazil. She will speak in church on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 at 9 a.m. at the chapel on 1965 E. Canyon Road, Springville. She will leave for the MTC in Sao Paulo, Brazil on January 31. Ian M. William M. Smith, a 2005 graduate of Springville High School, recently recent-ly completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. The training is designed to challenge chal-lenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Smith and fellow recruits began be-gan their training at 5 a m., by Rinning three miles and performing per-forming calisthenics. In addition to the physical conditioning program, pro-gram, Smith spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments as-signments which included learning learn-ing first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, marks-manship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training. Smith and fellow recruits ended the training phase with The Cru- Church news On Sunday, Jan. 29, Rev. Janet Riley will preach at the Springville Community Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church. Her sermon ser-mon title is "By whose Authority?," Au-thority?," with scripture from Mark 1: 21-28. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m., Worship at 10:30 and Fellowship hour at 11:30. Springville Senior Citizens Senior citizens are invited to take part in the many activities at the Springville Senior Center including quilting, cards and billiards from 9 am. to noon daily; aerobics, Mon., Wed. and Fri 8 a.m.; art class, Mon. 1 to 4 p.m.; card playing, Tue. and Thur. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; ceramics, Wed. 10 am to 3 p.m. and bingo 12:30.
