McKay Center at Utah Valley State College. "May you look back on the past with as much pleasure as you look forward to the future." --Paul Dixon, is the theme chosen for this year's commencement. Emily Miller, senior class president, will welcome the graduates and their guests. Angela An-gela Nielsen, one of eleven valedictorians, vale-dictorians, will be the first speaker. speak-er. Ball The Springville Historical Society invites the public to the next installment of the Sesquicen-tennial Sesquicen-tennial lecture series in the Springville Sprin-gville City Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 50 S. Main, tonight, Wed., May 24, at 7 p.m. The lecture series continues as three officers of the Historical Society present 10-minute mini-lectures, mini-lectures, wiuT time for questions between each lecture. This month's mini-lectures will be given by Helen Beardall, Rell Francis and Bruce Mendenhall Menden-hall and will deal with industry, speculation and innovation in Springville's history. Helen Beardall will discuss "The Mills of Springville's Past." Mill work played an important role in Springville's early history. The mills, located in and around town, supplied the people of Springville with much needed for goods, it also employed many men from town, providing a good living for their families. Moving from industry to outlawry, Rell Francis will discuss dis-cuss the "Questionable Sightings of Butch Cassidy in Springville, 1892-1900-Fact, Fiction or His-story His-story lies?" The life of outlaw Butch Cassidy is filled with adventure, drama and speculation. specula-tion. Even in early Springville, Butch was well known. So, what part, if any, did he play in the 1898 robbery of the Springville Bank? Did he spend much time in Springville? How is he portrayed by historians as a Wild West Robin Hood? These are just a few of the many questions surrounding sur-rounding Butch Cassidy that Rell Francis will address in his segment seg-ment on the infamous outlaw and Price 500 one, Kimberly Ann Box, Travis J. Through accounts in the "Farmer's Oracle" and other sources, Bruce Mendenhall will show how the farmers of Spring A typical timber mill located in the nearby mountains is shown here. These mills provided lumber for the building industry and ties for. the fast growing railroad industry in Springville. Citizens are invited to learn about this and other mills in Springville's past tonight, May 24, at 7 p.m. at the meeting of the Springville Historical Society. It will be held at the Civic Center.
