David Ansley Mote will be conducted Sunday evening at 7:30 in the Springville Community Com-munity Presbyterian Church by the Springville church and the Provo Community Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. The installation services will be open to members of the two churches only, because of limited space. However, a public reception will be held at the Provo Community Congregational Church following the services. Representatives of the Utah Presbytery and the In-termountain In-termountain Conference of U.C.C. will conduct the joint installation. Participants include in-clude The Rev. Robert H. Rigstad, vice moderator of the Presbytery of Utah, Dr. Bradley Skinner, conference minister of the Intermountain Conference. U.C.C, The Rev. Frank R. David Ansley Mote will serve as pastor of both the Springville and Provo churches. This is the second joint service held by the two churches. Seven years ago the two denominations conducted a joint service at which The Rev. Donald A. Coleman was ordained as a congregational minster and stalled as pastor of the Springville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Mote is a native of Tucson, Ariz., and completed his high school education in Palo Alto, Calif. A National Merit Scholar, he attended Harvard College and graduated in 1960 with a degree in physics. He entered Union Theological Semininary in New York, completing his theological training in 1964. Mr. Mote was ordained in the Presbytery of Western Colorado, and served from 1964 to the present time as pastor of the Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church in Cortez, Colo.. Herald installs new computer Newly installed this week at the Springville Herald is the modern computer-type machine that sets "type" through a photo process rather than with molten metal as has been done in the past. The machine is fed with ticker tape of copy which photographs on a whirling negative and then the negative is run through another machine which quickly develops it ready for proofing and pasting on the type page to be again photographed with the entire page prior to having the final plate made for running on the offset press. Since the process is completely com-pletely new as well as the equipment also, today's issue may show some signs of inexperience inex-perience in using the new methods and equipment. graduates, Lloyd N. She is being sponsored by Miners Sales- funerama for fun at Art City Days Funerama, one of the featured events of this year's Art City Days celebration scheduled Friday, June 12, is designed to provide entertainment and activity for the family members of the city, according to Chairman Dr. Ken Creer. The event will be held at the North Park beginning at 7 o'clock p.m. and will last for approximately one hour. Various kinds of games will be planned for the youngsters under the recreation crouD and directed by Ned Perkins. Immediately following this phase of the program a Junior Rodeo will be staged by the Hobble Creek Riding Club at the riding club arena at North Park. Kids under 12 years of age will be participating in the event. Belt buckles will be given winners of each of several events planned. Bids were as follows: Valley Asphalt, $20,850; Geneva Rock Products Co., $25,650; Superior Asphalt Company $18,950. Bids were referred to the city engineer before making a bid award. Hie council agreed to participate par-ticipate in the expenses involved in sending the queen to the state competition as explained by Jim Jeffers, Jaycee president and will contribute $150.00. Raymond Klauck of the Chamber of Commerce extended ex-tended an invitation to the mayor and city council to the Chamber of Commerce breakfast break-fast planned July 17 at 7 a.m. at the new Hobble Creek Inn. Dale Jarman who resides in the mouth of Hobble Creek Canyon, met with the council to discuss the increasing problem of motor bikes in the hills nearhis home and the nuisance they are creating. Lyle Smith of the Forest Service met with the council to discuss the use of Forest Service lands and of recreation areas in the canyon. They will also be sold at he gate the night of June 12. Jehovah group plans events Spanish Fork congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is planning for the visit of Mr. D. Hartley, circuit supervisor, Sunday. In preparation for this, the week of May 26-31 will emphasize "Family Bible Education" and a door-to-door ministerial training and series of talks on bible instruction in-struction are planned. As the special climax to Mr. Hartley's week-long activity, a public discourse entitled "Education that equips you for life"will be given at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 31 at 291 East 700 North in Spanish Fork. Diplomas to be awarded 232 seniors at impressive rites Springville High School will hold commencement exercises at the high school auditorium next Wednesday evening May 27 beginning at 7:30 under the direction of Principal Harold Bartlett. Springville soldier loses life on combat mission in Yietnam A Springville man, Spec-4 Kent Childs Taylor, 20, was killed May 14, 1970 in a helicopter crash while on a combat mission in Vietnam. He was the son of Morris and Ada Taylor of 515 East 1000 South. His wife, who is residing with her parents in Orem. was the former Marie McKinney. The body will be sent here for burial services, but up to press time, there was no word received as to when it would arrive. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with full military rites. Spec-4 Taylor had been in Vietnam since Sept. 24, 1969. He received his basic training at Fort Ord, Calif., then trained at Fort Eustis, Va. before going overseas. He served as a crew chief on his helicopter during combat missions in Vietnam. He was born July 18,1949 in Spanish Fork, a son of Morris and Ada Childs Taylor. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He graduated from the Springville High School in 1967 and attended the Utah Technical College at Provo. Prior to entering en-tering the service he was em-plyed em-plyed at U.S. Steel Company. He married Marie McKinney of Orem on Feb. 22, 1969 in the Manti Temple. Surviving are his widow of Orem, his parents of Springville, a brotther and three sisters, Morris Lee Taylor of Spanish Fork, Lois Taylor and Mrs. Thomas (Marlene) Bott of Springville, and Mrs. Kay (Evelyn) Mitani of American Fork, one grandmother, Mrs. John Taylor of Salem. Starting May 28, office hours on Thursdays will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will remain from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. In other action by the Council, it was decided that because of the problem of excess waste water from irrigation damaging the city streets, it will be necessary to enforce the city ordinance against such practice. The city attorney was directed to write a statement to citizens informing them of this decision and a letter will also be sent to the Mapleton Irrigation Company Com-pany advising them and asking their cooperation.
