Vernon of Orem announce an-nounce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Venna, of Washington, D. C. to Robert K. Gaisford, formerly of American Fork, Utah, son of Mr. and -Mrs. Victor W. Gaisford. x The young couple arrived from the 'east coast Friday and will be married in the Salt Lake temple, Wednesday, December 9th. They will return to Washington, D. C. where Miss Vernon has been employed for the past year as clerk in the civilian personnel section in the adjutant general school of the war department. depart-ment. Mr. Gaisford is second class storekeeper in the-U. S. navy department, de-partment, having seen active service at Pearl Harbor. At present pres-ent he is stationed at Portsmouth, Virginia. Miss Vernon is a graduate of Lincoln high school and also attended at-tended the B. YU. arid the Steno-type Steno-type Institute at Washington, D. C. Mr. GaiBford is a graduate of the American Fork high school. He entered the N. S. navy in 1939 and has been in active service since that time. Grant-Johnson Nuptials Told SPRINGVILLE An interesting, nuptial announcement of this week is the engagement of Miss Dayma Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grant of this city, and Mel-vin Mel-vin A. Johnosn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Johnson of Midvale. The marriage is to be an event of December 19, and will take place at the home of the bride's parents. The. bride-elect is a former student stu-dent of the Brlgham Young university uni-versity and of Mills College, Oakland, Oak-land, Calif., and she has also attended at-tended business college in Salt Lake City. She was affiliated with the O.S. Trovata, social unit of the B.Y.U., the Theta Alphi Phi, national honorary hon-orary dramatic fraternity, and the Alpha Iota, national honorary business sorority. Mr. Johnson is enlisted in R.O.T.C. advanced military training train-ing at the ftrtversity of Utah, where he has" been active in athletics.- He is affiliated with the Sigma Chi fraternity. Lady Lions At Christmas Party The Lady lions club met in their annual Christmas party at Haase Cafe Thursday evening, with Mrs. Clarence Greer in charge. A short business meeting was held, the club being divided into three groups, who plan to spend alloted time each week at the Red Cross center assisting with bandages. band-ages. Honored On 84th Birthday SPRJNGVTLLE Mrs. Ellen Mc-Kenzle Mc-Kenzle Vldow of George McKenzie, will celebrate her eighty-fourth birthday today. She has resided at her present home on Tenth South, Second West street, since 1883. Mrs. McKenzie was born in Springville and has lived to see many changes and much progress prog-ress in this community. She has always taken an active part in L.D.S. church and community af fairs. For 11 years, she was president of the Third ward Relief society. During her early life, she served as an officer in the Retrenchment society, which later became the Mutual Improvement association. She served a number of years as president of the Third ward Y. W. M.I.A. Mrs. McKenzie is a charter member of the Springville camp D.U.P. and has always been an ardent temple worker. Former Orem Girl Wed At Bremerton OREM Relatives and friends in Orem have received cards announcing an-nouncing the marriage of Miss Diane Calder, daughter of Mr. ani Mrs. Jack C. Calder of Huntington Hunting-ton Park. Calif., to Howard R. Ohmie. The marriage was an event of Oct. 13th and took place at Bremerton, Washington, where Mr. Ohmie is in military training. Miss Calder is a graduate of the Lincoln high school and later she studied voice under Emma Lucy Gates Bowen, in Salt Lake City. The family moved to California two years ago, where she has continued con-tinued with her musical career. They are former residents of Sharon ward. The little ' Misses La Rae Nelson and Coleen Jackson, nieces of the bride, were train bearers. The bride made a beautiful picture pic-ture in her wedding dress of ivory satin, en train, with a fingertip veil fastened to a coronet of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of deep red roses with shower streamers of white satin. Miss Shafter's gown was blue moire and white net; Miss Chilton Chil-ton wore baby blue starched chiffon; chif-fon; Miss Bowen's gown was blue allover lace and French organdie and Miss Healey wore a model of flowered white chiffon. Each wore a shoulder corsage of sweet peas and roses.
