RIDGE Beautiful and impressive were the funeral services of Mrs. Robert Ridge, held in the Ensign ward chapel in Salt Lake City. Sunday afternoon, midst a profusion of flowers. Mrs. Ridge died at her home in Salt Lake, Th'arsday afternoon, from pneumonia and complications. A son, Alfred Ridge, is shop foreman fore-man of the Provo Evening Herald. The following program was furnished: furn-ished: Prelude, Helen Barton, cello, Virginia Taylor, piano; quartet, "O My Father," Mrs. Hampton, soprano, so-prano, Miss Charlie Williams, alto, Kent Cobb, tenor, and John H. Wood, bass; prayer, Alexander Lyon; tribute, "As I Know Her," A. W.'iliam Lund, former president of the British mission; tribute, Erz.-est Erz.-est H. Cornwall, former Newcastle conference president; solo, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," John H. Wood, accorrs?anied by Miss Lola Nelson at the piano; tribute, "As We Would Remember Her," C. C. ALFRED ASTON ; PASSES AWAY PLEASANT' GROVE Alfred Aston As-ton died at his home in Orem Saturday, Sat-urday, January 7, after a six weeks' illness. He was born in England, April 16, 1865. For the past 40 years he has lived at Orem, following the occupation of farming. He is survived sur-vived by his wife and the following follow-ing step-children: Alfred Elias, Magna; Mrs. Ruth Drudella, Mrs. Ella WJliams, Vineyard; Laurence, Orem; Will and Zelma of Pleasant Grove.. Four brothers also survive: Joseph, Orem; Elias, Emmett, Ida.; Harry, Salt Lake, John, Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be held in the Windsor ward house, Tuesday, January 10, at 11 a. m. White and Miss Margaret Hill as special guests. A special meeting of the missionary mis-sionary tea was held Tuesday afternoon at the Community chuhch. with. President Edith Mc-Fadden Mc-Fadden in charge. Mrs. E. G. Breeze conducted the devotional and Mrs. D. P. Morgan gave a review re-view of "John Whitman's Vision." A large number of people from the wards of Payson attended tho Nebo stake temple workers excursion excur-sion to Salt Lake on Thursday. Civic club day, sponsored by the Cultus club, was held on Wednesday Wednes-day at the Community church, with President Iva Chase in, charge. Members of the Cultust club, American Legion auxiliary, Lady Lions, and Federated Muslo club were present. Mrs. Algie Bal-lif Bal-lif of Provo, formerly state commander com-mander and national committee-woman committee-woman of the auxiliary, gave a most interesting talk on the organization or-ganization and objectives of that crganization. Miss Laura Shepherd Shep-herd of Spanish Fork read two one act plays, "Enter the Hero," by Tressa Hellburn, and "Embers," by George Middleton. Mrs. Clyde. Wilson gave a report of the civic work in connection with the serving serv-ing of free lunchas to school children, chil-dren, and submitted the committee work during the coming I en weeks. Mr. and Mrs! Harold Spalding, who are spending the winter in Payson canyon, had as their guests ever the holidays. Miss Vera Lind-strom Lind-strom and Miss Lucille Averly of Provo; Willis Payne and Gilbert Peay of Payson. The party made the trip for the first eight miles in a bob-sleigh, and continued the last five miles on skiis. The main sport of the ten days was skiing and several trips were made five and six miles from the cabins. The snow averaged about four feet in depth. Eighteen other sport lovers spent some time in the canyon during Christmas week, including Dr. L. D. Pfouts and Charles Pace.
