Hullinger Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Lester Hullinger, 79, of Dry Fork Canyon, Vernal, left this earthly life on Oct. 16, 2000 in Salt Lake City, after suffering heart and kidney problems. He was born on Oct. 2, 1921 in Cedarview to William and Nellie Levina Wyman Sadlier Hullinger. He married Feza Gwen Penfold on Dec. 21, 1940 in Vernal. Their marriage mar-riage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on Dec. 17. 1977. To this union four sons and four daughters were bom. Lester served in the U.S. Army from 1945 - 1947 he was a member of the LDS Church. Maeser 2nd Ward. He had worked as a gilsonite miner, rancher,- in telephone maintenance main-tenance and in the oilfield. He real-, ly enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor. He was always teasing or had a joke to tell. Lester is survived by his wife of almost 60 years; daughters, Nellie (Alex) Barney. Leota; Carol (Doyle) Eaton, Vernal: Dorothy (Dennis) Slaugh, Faye (Jesse) Phillips, Dry Fork Canyon; sons. Kenneth (Jane) Hullinger, Vernal; Donald (Bridget) Hullinger. Dry Fork Canyon; Eugene (Margery) Hullinger, Manila; William "Billy" (Glenda) Hullinger, VemaJ. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren grand-children and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; anilone great grandchild; also brothers. Don Sadlier, Delbert Hullinger; and sisters. Violet Sadlier Doman Lewis and Ruth Sadlier. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. in the Maeser Stake Center. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hullinger-Spafford Hullinger-Spafford Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park under the direction of the Hullinger-Spafford Funeral Home. Norman Norman S. Hancock. 70, of St. George died Monday. Oct. 16, 2000 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 24. 1930 in Randlett to William and Zeda Wood Hancock. He married Violet Hardy on April 8. 1955 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. His father worked for the government gov-ernment and later they moved to Fort Duchesne where Norm spent his childhood. He graduated from Alterra High School and then served our country during the Korean War spending 1 8 months in Okinawa. In 1961 Norm graduated from Utah State University where he earned dual degrees in accounting account-ing and diesel technology and had a successful 25 year career working work-ing for Hunt Wesson Foods. Norm was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a scoutmaster scout-master for many years. Elders Quorum president. Ward and Stake president of the Seventy, Stake . mission president. High Priest group leader. Stake financial clerk and Temple ordinance worker. Norm loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He was a quiet man who earned the respect of others f at .. - 4 : I Don Erekson Don Erekson Don Miller Erekson, 79, passed away October 8, 2000 in a Seattle hospital of complications due to hip surgery and other health problems. prob-lems. During a trip to Haines, Alaska in September to visit his children and grandchildren, Ea'kson w as medevaced to Juneau and Seattle hospitals. His Haines family accompanied him and remained by his side. Don was born on a ranch in Venial on April 30.1921 to Mvrtle Miller and Mailer Hensley Erekson. He graduated from L'nitah High School in 1939 and attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan through the Future Farmers of America. Don joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he received his wings and was assigned to a night flying squadron in torpedo bombersand fighters. He continued to have a great lov e for these vintage planes. On April 5, 1946 he married Anna Mae Downs faim Miami. Ariz., while stationed in Key West. Fla. After her death. Don married Carlene Jones on July 10.1993. who shared his last eight years. Don worked as an insurance agent for 43 yean until he retired in 1990. He traveled throughout Arizona and enjoyed gardening, landscaping, home improvement projects, and watching basketball. Don was the youngest of 6 children chil-dren and is survived by two older sisters June Mowrey and Doris Johnson of Washington, -son Frank Erekson of Tempe, Ariz.; daughters daugh-ters Judy Erekson and Jo Anna Egolf of Haines. Alaska; 7 grandchildren: grand-children: and step-children, Mike Morris and Kelly Thurman of Phoenix. Members of his extended family still reside in Utah. Calif.; two sisters: Vivian Cheney and Bonnie (Jerrold) Todd; eight grandchildren: Michael Wechsler (serving a mission in Ohio); Daniel Wechsler, Amber Hancock: Amanda Wechsler. Chip Hancock; Travis Hancock; Nicole Wechsler; Douglas Wechsler; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents; par-ents; and two brothers: Cortlan and Sterling Hancock. Ence passed away Oct. 16, 2000 in the Craig Memorial Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born March 14, 1912 in Parowan. He married Emma Voy Glasgow on August 21, 1934 in Provo. Ovi had a love for music and w as a member of the LDS Church. He ranched for many years, did various vari-ous crane work for Hill Field during dur-ing the war. He worked for Colo-Wyo Colo-Wyo Coal Company in Craig and was a member of the United Mine Workers. After retirement he and his wife moved to Vemal in 1978 to run a dragline for his son. Ovi was a loving father, grandfather grandfa-ther and great-grandfather. He enjoyed family gatherings and being surrounded by those he loved. He w ill be greatly missed by all who knew him. Winn Albert Curtis Winn, 59, passed away Oct. 2, 2000 at the University of Utah Medical Center from quick and natural causes. Albert was born Nov. 27, 1940 to Albert LeRoy and Elma Bell Curtis Winn in Roosevelt. He married Darlene Davis on Sept. 3, 1959 in Pleasant Valley. He worked for many year in the gilsonite mines when he w as first married. He w as then a tool pusher and company man for various drilling rigs. For the remaining years of his life, he owned his own truck and drove coast to coast. He also fanned and he loved fishing and hunting. He was a very hard worker, and a "giver;" he'd give you the shirt off his back if needed. He was loved by all and w ill be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Myton; daughter, Karren Watkins. Anderson Former Vernal resident Glen D. Anderson, 58, of Elmer City, Wash., passed away in Grand Coulee, Wash., Oct. 10, 2000. Glen was bom Aug. 5, 1942 to Charles Rulon and Tauline Martinsen Anderson in Denver, Colo. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1960. He married Aloma Jean Barnes in Gunnison, Colo., in 1963. Glen worked for the government in Gunnison and Montrose, Colo., Lyman, Wyo., Phoenix, Ariz., Seattle, Wash., and Grand Coulee. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Banks Lake Golf and Country Club where he was currently president. presi-dent. He w as also a member of the Moose as present governor. Elks and LDS Church. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. Aleen Maples, 86, passed away Oct. 15, 2000 at her home in Vemal. Aleen was born Sept. 16, 1914 a daughter of Wilson Burr and Annie Grace Woolsy Mitchell. She married Elmer Charles Maples in July 1933 in New Mexico. He passed away in 1992. Aleen and Elmer owned and operated motels and restaurants. She w as a member of the Protestant Church and loved to be with her family. ' She is survived by her daughters, Betty (Bill) McKnight, Vernal; Beverly (David) Cody, Gaffney, S C.; sister.'Edna Johnson, Herford, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth and Diane Miller, Ron Miller, Corky and Paulette Miller.
