Show 1 8 Yemal ExpreSS Wednesday, May 25, 1988 Resident receives Bishop's recognition Vernal resident, Margaret Francke, was a recent recipient of the "Bishop's Award", an honor conferred con-ferred by Lt. Rev. George E. Bates. The award was given to her at the Eighty-third Diocesan Convention of the Episcopal Church held in Salt Lake on May 13-15. This honor is given to those individuals who demonstrate love for God and mankind. Margaret was bom June 20, 1907 to C.J. and Essie Neal in Vernal. Her parents were active members of the Episcopal Church and encouraged encour-aged attendence by their children. Margaret recalls her early childhood experiences which included meetings meet-ings of the Women's Guild in their home. Members would discuss God and the activities of the church which promoted the word of God. Margaret is well known throughout through-out her church and the local area for the many contributions she has made. Some of those include singing for funerals, teas, political rallies, receptions and miscellaneous miscella-neous community events. She has exhibited an understanding and respect re-spect for people from other walks of life and other religious convictions. According to Iva Cutshaw: "Margaret's love and sense of community com-munity pride is far reaching. In addition ad-dition to her life wilh her church and family, her other service work includes working with the Uintah County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She has been the memorial memo-rial fund chairman of the American Heart Association. She is a member of the Chapter C PEO Sisterhood and formerly served as past state president of this organization." In addition, Margaret is a member of the Duvcromy Chapter 17 Order of the Eastern Star and the Easter Club of Vernal; a member of the Symphony Guild as well as the Community Concert Association. She graduated from Sl Mary's in Salt Lake and the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Oakland, Calif. She was employed at the government hospital which served the Utc Tribe until she married mar-ried the late Dr. J.M. Francke in 1933. She was also employed dur- A i Margaret Francke ing World War II at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. Margaret has three children living and several grandchildren. One of her sons, Ll Ronald Francke, a Navy Pilot, was killed in 1964. Th Codfish lays ten thousand eggs. The homely hen lays one. His farewell will be held Sunday, May 29 at 8 a.m. in the Vernal First Ward, 250 North 200 West. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on June 1. Church to host community sing SL Paul's Episcopal Church will be the host for the Community Fifth Sunday Sing. They have planned a day . of fun filled activities. Fellowship will, be from 1:00 to 2:00. Picnic from 2:00 to 4:00. Bring your own picnic basket to share. Play and recreation from 4:00 to 5:00. Bring any games or sports equipment you wish to use.
