Show First lady mayor named VERNON At age 70 and just four years after she become involved in-volved in local politics, Cosetta Castagno has become the first woman mayor of Vernon. The Tooele County woman, swom in last month, replaces Mayor Ken Rigby, who has accepted a call to serve an LDS mission in Capetown, Africa. Castagno became involved in politics in 1987 when she was appointed ap-pointed to fill the unexpired term of a town councilman who had passed away. The new mayor said she is ready for the job and has some definite plans. "We are already in the process of modifying our zoning laws in Vernon," she said "All of us involved in changing those laws are taking training classes through the University of Utah. We want to make sure we set things up properly. , |
