Show Hennacv House problems focus , f "o Problems and difficulties were aired and action outlined by a group of concerned individuals Thursday to further the effective efforts of Hennacy House. Hennacy House, at 1218 4th Avenue in Salt Lake City, is an apartment house maintained to help drug users and addicts through prevention, education and rehabilitation by providing a sort of community with which they can try to relate. The six persons' discussion was mediated by Max Coff, chairman of Academic Affairs Board. Mr. Coff offered his help for the Hennacy House when he was approached by Charlie Brown. "I think this is a worthy cause," Mr. Coff stated, "you know I co-sponsored co-sponsored a bill in the Assembly to give ASUU funds to Hennacy House." The proposal, Bill 20, sponsored by Pete Dixon and Mr. Coff, granted $2,000 to the house and recommended full support to the effort by the Associated Stu dents of the University of Utah (ASUU). The problems they discussed dealt with tenants who dont accept their responsibilities by paying rent or keeping the apartments clean. I'd like to see this a fun house, too." "These (tenants) are alienated from everybody," Mr. Brown said, "even their parents. I want to see this a community where these people can relate." The apartment manager responded, "I won't take all the responsibility any more. There are 22 apartments; it's a madhouse. No one takes care of any of the problems. Charlie, you don't live up to it either. Your place is a pigpen and you don't do your work for your rent. I want responsible long-hairs. I don't care about the drugs." apartment manager stated his problem, "I've been working all summer with these drug addicts and I just won't do it for what I m getting out of it. I've lost too much, like my health. I want some bread now. I've tried to work a program on no money." He also stated that the tenants had no responsbility, "They can't even take care of their own |
