The U.S. Office of Education will i provide approximately 500 fellowships fellow-ships during the 1968-69 academic year for graduate training of personnel per-sonnel needed by the nation's lib- i raries and information centers. s The office today announced awards to 51 colleges and univers- c ities in 27 States and the District d of Columbia the Univer sity Of Utah, that Vritt. setec. a-ufll train the Fellows in library anil ii j v formation sciences. rc The fellowships are authorial r under Title II-B of the Higher Education Edu-cation Act of 1965. a More Masters Degrees Of the 499 fellowships 6 be ( awarded, 168 will be at tk 4oc- toral level, including 98 coitoed from the 1967-68 academic year, 28 at the post-master's level, audi at the master's level. In addition, summer training is provided for 480 Fellows to meet degree require 1 ments. Fellowships for students seeking a master's degree are $2,200 each ; and at the post-master and doctoral levels, $5,000 each. Post master's and doctoral fellowships are re newable. They are not awarded for a period of more than three years, however. Additional Summer Money ' If summer study is required, an additional stipend of $75 per week, not to exceed a total of $450, is pro ( vided at the master's level. At the post-master's and doctoral levels - the stipend for summer study is the rate of $170 per week, not to exceed a total of $1,020. In addf ; tion, $600 is allowable for each de- ; pendent for the academic year w , $120 for the summer, plus travel expenses to and from the institution for the Fellow only. ; j |
