Newlyweds Romp 'Barefoot In Park' By Mike Saffle Chronicle Staff Writer "Barefoot in the Park", a long-running long-running Broadway comedy that ran three months in Salt Lake City last year as a movie, will open at the Pioneer Memorial Theater Thursday Thurs-day evening. Directed by Byron McGrath, "Barefoot in the Park" features laughs, a love story, and a surprise cast member. The story of two newlyweds, Paul and Cory, it tells of after-the-honey-moon adjustments in a run-down brownstone apartment in New York. Beset with the problems of a new legal career, Paul struggles with his first case, in-law troubles, and a suave and intelligent neighbor, Valesco. Paul Engeman plays Paul, and Allyson Beecher his wife, Cory. Valesco, the neighbor, is played by Jack VVhitiker. Assisting Mr. McGrath are Vern Adix, who directed staging, and John Cook, who managed lighting. The costumes were under the supervision sup-ervision of Lyn Welch. Barefoot in the Park will run from January 11 to 20, with a single matinee on January 20. Tickets are available at the PMT box office. |
