According to Institutional studies, stud-ies, enrollment at the University is expected to climb to the 20,000 mark during the 1969-1970 academic aca-demic year. Nearly 2,500 students stu-dents will enter seven years from now during 1973-74. Dr. Grant said the campus population popula-tion will grow steadily through 1976 when it is expected to top 27,000. Ten-Year Plans Each of the 67 academic departments de-partments is making long-range plans which will extend over the next ten years in expectation of the rapid growth of student enrollment. en-rollment. The plans include a financial schedule to determine tuition, sources of income and expenditure; a manpower plan, dealing with the recruiting and training of new faculty; and a proportional blueprint to determine deter-mine the need for more room and to plot its use. The University Univer-sity has already initiated construction con-struction on the more than $70 million new buildings which wiD be required, and each college has submitted a long-range plan to procure academic excellence. The traditional chaos of registration regis-tration lines will be largely a thing of the past by next quarter, quar-ter, as, with an eye toward organizational or-ganizational modernization, the University initiates computerized computer-ized registration. The new procedure pro-cedure allows students to complete com-plete the mechanics of the entire en-tire registration system by mail rather than in person. It assures a better chance of obtaining desired de-sired classes and will have the additional benefit of furnishing information to the University life. The registration process wiij continue through Saturday, after which the studentbody can anticipate an-ticipate "armchair registration." l ,M lt m tl .. ,,. .,, -i.., .. reshmen show frustration on registration day.
