Show McGrawFoundation Makes $60,000 Gift President James C. Fletcher Tuesday accepted a $60,000 grant oj behalf of the University for establishment of a professorial chair in the College of Business. MR. SCOTT M. Elrod, president presi-dent of the McGraw Foundation of Elgin, Illinois, said the Board of Directors of the McGraw Foundation has approved the grant for the purpose of endowing endow-ing a chair in the College of Business, to be named the 'Max McGraw Chair of Economics." This chair will be dedicated to the memory of the late Max McGraw, Mc-Graw, founder of the McGraw Edison Company. The $60,000 grant was announced an-nounced today at the regular meeting of the University Board of Regents. Negotiations in behalf be-half of the University have been carried out by former regent John L. Strike, co-manager of Ajax Presses in Salt Lake City, a division of McGraw-Edison. It is the first grant received in support of President Fletcher's new professorial chair endowment endow-ment program. A suitable plaque will be placed in the College of Business bearing the name of Mr. McGraw. Mr. McGraw was an intense advocate of the free-enterprise system and individual freedom in our society. He was an enthusiastic en-thusiastic sportsman and spent a great deal of time hunting in Utah. His interest in Salt Lake City grew through his association associa-tion with Mr. Strike and Ajax Presses. |
