Show Paul D. Beatty Let s Nurture Apathy I Apathy has fallen into a slump on campus. 1 THE WORD is being bandied about as though it were an l old saxon word occasioned by a Celtic spring. ' It is stated that apathy is to blame for the independents' lack f of concern about two recent Greeks and their f r constitutional issue. jl IT IS stated that apathy has caused the "Uton- ' ian" to have the degree of popularity usually reserved re-served for Republican mass meetings. And the only positive measure being taken ; is by Miss Marilyn McKay, ex-spotlight on India V'' chairman, Challenge Steering Committee member, j Cwean president. CCUN chairman, a member ni Mr- Beatty the Union Board, Student Affairs Committee Beehive, Mortar Board, A Capella, Choir and Debate Squad, who' according to the Friday, May 14, "Chronicle," has made it her personal goal to break the "myth" that campus participation is 01 restricted to certain "in groups." H But apathy should be nurtured; per se, It is a virtue and should be loudly supported for the protection of the masses (Independents)- It is the dynamic which must me feared- ' j Had only Eve (even under the prodding of the snake), Hitler, ' Attila, Einstein, Edison, Great Ford, Hamilton, Hearst, Freud,' Darwin and several "Chronicle" columnists been apathetic who can deny that it would now be a better world? THE UTAH Legislature this year was not apathetic. l The administration was not apathetic and you will pay 25 T1 per cent more tuition next year- THE GREEKS are not apathetic- Can anything more be said in support of apathy? ffin |
