Show f Coordinating Council Follow Same Policy The Coordinating Council wishes to follow the practice established by past governing , bodies by continuing to keep the studenrbody informed about pertinent and vital issues. IT HAS become procedure that the governing body write periodically a column regarding regard-ing student government and its progress. The primary purpose of this column is to be a liaison between be-tween the student leaders and those whom they represent. In the future a student will read why certain actions were taken, why specific policies were supported sup-ported and why a particular program was put into action. IF A STUDENT is informed he is in a better position to evaluate and then condone or condemn. Often times students forget that the elected officers pur pose is to serve them. Students are of the opinion that their J leaders are too distant, that the leaders are a different sphere, thus students are hesi- V tant about judging the actions of their leaders, offering them advice and expressing their J wishes to them. IN THE coming year many l new policies will be formulated, V numerous decisions will be KAR made and new precedents li"a founded. The new constitution gives student government the 1 opportpnity to tear away from Iff the traditional, binding "old way of doing things." )ernj Within the limitations pro- vided by the new constitution the Coordinating Council will ' have a new chance to make stu- f K dent government a meaningful .. experience for those who be- j (jj come directly involved and those who are spectators who i choose to remain indirectly in- j ms volved. music THIS TEARING away offers U?V, a challenge to the entire stu-,e(j l dentbody and its 1 e a d e r s. je D Change does not come without -controversy and compromise. New guidelines come after dis-?13 ' cussion, deliberation and dis- rr agreement. The Coordinating Council feels it can best serve the stu- dents only if the students aref knowledgable of the issues. : less |
