Union Ballroom. Dr. J. D. Williams, professor of political science and a well-known well-known critic of the Birch Society, will present the negative case. ... John H. Rousselot, former congressman con-gressman from California and the Western District governor of the John Birch Society, will represent the society in the debate. "THE YAF is in no way affiliated with the John Birch Society, other than the fact that we are both conservative con-servative organizations," explained Corydon Hammond, Utah chairman of yaf: "Both organizations are separate and independent, but we feel that the society has been the object of a great deal of fallacious and baseless base-less criticism. In addition, assaults made on the Birch Society are generally interpreted as applying to the entire en-tire right wing. "Critics of the Birch Society have called it fascist, un-American and a national liability. This debate will afford the public the opportunity of hearing experts representing the sentiments of both the left and right wings." |
