Show Student Leaders Brew Remedies By JIM GEORGE Chronicle Staff Writer In yesterday's Executive Council meeting plans for a Freshman Cabinet were announced. The object of this new body is to orient freshmen with the different forms and procedures of the University's student government. Thirty students will be chosen on the basis of leadership, scholarship, and general ability. The year's activities planned for the cabinet will include seminars on student government, national ' problems, " and leadership. Various other projects are also planned in which the members may participate. APPLICATIONS for the Freshman Cabinet may be obtained in the ASUU office. The Senate Welfare Committee met Wednesday to discuss actions for eliminating the congestion of parking lots used by both students 1 and faculty. Committee members noted that most of the tickets issued were to students who parked in faculty stalls. The idea was therefore proposed pro-posed that certain parking lots be designated for students only and others for faculty. Students would then know " exactly where not to park, saving, the embarrassment of a ticket and a great amount of time. ONE EXAMPLE given in separating separat-ing the faculty and employees'from students was to give the entire lots of the Union and Orson Spencer to students. The faculty who park in these lots would be moved to the lot southeast of the bookstore. This at present is a student lot, but it was noted that the exchange of parking spaces would be even. By doing this, students could park in the Union or Orson Spencer lots without ticket risk. The main proposals for student-faculty student-faculty separation were not clearly defined, but the Senate body will present their proposals to Vice-President Vice-President Hodson on Nov. 12. |
