OPERETTA 'NEPHi', FINE CENTENNIAL PRESENTATION, PLEASES AUDIENCE ,:Nephi and the House of Israel," Is-rael," an operetta based on the story of Lehl and his family coming to America, as found in the Eook of First Nephi of the Book of Mormon, was presented to a large and appreciative audience aud-ience Wednesday evening in the Beaver High School auditorium. Mrs. M a r g e r y Mackerell, author and producer of the eight-scene musical, was presented pre-sented with a potted plant from the Centennial Committee, with words of appreciation for her unusual contribution to the community for the Centennial celebration. . ' Besides writing " and producing produc-ing this operetta, Mrs- Mackerel! Mack-erel! also designed and made the costumes and stage setting's. I , Earlier in the year she paint-j : ed a picture of Puffers Lake for Philo T. Farnsworth wiien he visited Beaver for the Centennial Cen-tennial celebration, Feb. 6. She also showed an art exhibit on Labor Day. j Mrs. Mackerell also was largely responsible for publica-: tion of ''Monuments to Cour-J age," a history of Beaver County Coun-ty published in 1947. j In the production of this mu- j sical, Mrs. Mackerell was as-, sisted by 30 local performers, all of whom handled their parts well, helping to make this one of the finest entertainments of j the Centennial year. In dramatics, dra-matics, music and song, dancing, danc-ing, lighting effect, costuming and entertainment, the operetta was a huge success. j 1 |
