Show Saturday Ceremony Planned to Usher In 1956 Yule Season Mayor Ray Kizer will speak at the traditional Yule ceremonies cere-monies Saturday evening, when Milford's Christmas street lights are turned on, according to Jack Davis, city councilman in charge of the observance. The program pro-gram beginning at 6 o'clock -also will feature musical numbers num-bers by the Milford High School Band, directed by Jesse Long, and singing of Christmas carols by the students and townspeople, townspeo-ple, with Mr. Long directing the orchestra and Mayor Kizer will lead the singing- i Thursday afternoon in a snowstorm that gave promise of a white Christmas for Milford, the city employes completed hanging the colored lights and bells across Main street, and placed the huge Christmas tree in its regular spot in the center cen-ter of the Main and Fourth South intersection. Th.e program will begin . and the lights will be turned on at 6 p. m., Mr. Davis said. Jerry Kirk, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, urged merchants and residents to decorate their store windows and homes, and prepare to enter en-ter the annual lighting contest. Date for judging the contest, and awards, will be announced j in the near future, Mrs. Kirk said. ' The Lady Lions, led by Mrs. Ferl Bown, president, are planning plan-ning the Santa Claus party, at which Santa will give each child in Milford a sack of candy can-dy and nuts, and shake hands with the young folks. |
