Show 9 jbuntia, But 9 Ji&ari& By' STEVE WILLIAMS High School P.-T. A. will meet Thursday, Jan. 19th. Important discussion and explanation to the general public of the proposal to remodel re-model the high school and build a new elementary school. All residents of the community com-munity invited Thursday, Jan. 19th; 8 p. m., high school . auditorium. It is reported by County Nurse Mrs. McCulley that more than 150 cases of chicken pox have been "reported" in Milford, Mil-ford, but only a few have been reported to the Beaver County CImic or the health officer. All communicable, diseases must be reported, according to the law, to the public health officer. This week we learned that we are about to lose an import-' ant service we have enjoyed for more than 30 years. The "walking "walk-ing messenger" at the Western Union oifice is slated to be dis-continued. dis-continued. If this service is discontinued, discontin-ued, messages will be telephoned, tele-phoned, or mailed, to the person per-son to whom addressed. Possibly the Wtstern Union operators if they have time may deliver "downtown" messages. mes-sages. Their duties in Milford are primarily sending and receiving re-ceiving messages pertaining to the Union Pacific and operation opera-tion of U P trains. And they have little if any time for de- - - livering other messages. But Western Union has an obligation to the community " as well as to the railroad. Telegrams Tel-egrams carry important and urgent information; qtherwise the sender would use the mails. After 30 years, why is the delivery de-livery service now unimportant, unimport-ant, or "expendable." We feel there is no justification justifi-cation for depriving Milford of PROMPT delivery of telegrams received here. How many folks have noticed no-ticed or heard the Milford "wolf-gals" whistling up and down the streets? Some of 'em can emit a better wolf-call than many of the males. And if this was Dan Valentine's Valen-tine's column, he'd probably add a squib about "Only trouble is they never whistle at me!" But we're a little too old to be considered eligible by such young and attractive whistlers. Valentine is too, but he probably prob-ably doesn't realize it. We like the one they say Del Holyoak came up with: "If this is a Republican slump, I'd hate to be calling j crews during a Democratic boom." Lost a ladies leather purse, containing papers, bank book and small amount of cash; probably left in Milford post office.
