Show LEGION TO PRESENT MUSICAL SHOW AT HIGH SCHOOL APRIL 26-27-28 The community show "Going Places," using a large cast of local people ranging in age from 3 to 93 years, will play April 26, 27 and 28 at the Milford High auditorium under sponsorship of the American Legion. "Going Places" is said to be the funniest, fun-niest, fastest-moving home-town hit now being produced in America. Amer-ica. It is sure fire and has received rave notices from critics throughout the nation. It concerns itself with a lead ' character, Uncle Billy Watson, a kindly old man who is blessed with a Will Rogers sense of humor and a-f ine, down-to-earth homespun philosophy. He is portrayed as the station master of the union depot in Hometown, Home-town, U S A( who is ending 50 years of service. Carlyle Gron-ning Gron-ning is cast in this leading role and he brings out his scrap book of clippings to show the famous people he has met and the interesting in-teresting experiences he has had iust watching people "going j places" during his years on the I job. He chats with his audi- I ence and asks their opinion on the events he unfolds, and as I he reminisces the characters and scenes come to life and act out his story. One of the high spots of corn-Continued corn-Continued on Page Three Here's More About LEGION SHOW Continued from Page One edy is during the "Hollywood Whoop Dee Doo" scene when Al Jolson, impersonated by Rev. C. M. Wilton, arrives with a bunch of Hollywood starlets to make a personal appearance. In blackface Rev. Wilton imitates the Jazz Singer as he is spotlighted spot-lighted in songs Jolson made famous. It js during this scene that a special train of conven-tionnaires conven-tionnaires arrive. Others taking tak-ing part in the show are Andrew Sorenson as Prof. Quiz, Mayor J, D, Kirk as mayor of Hometown, Home-town, Misg Ella Jean Parkinson as Mary Margaret, The mayor comes to welcome the conventionnaires and to present the group with the key to the city. The men spot the Hollywood Starlets and songs, cheers and a cgmedy dance follows. Another scene features Bob Hope's War Bond Rally and in this scene he introduces two specialty spe-cialty numbers. There are many other big scenes, and a bang-up finale, "Hometown U S A." Rehearsals are being held each day and evening, and the complete cast of characters will be published next week, according accord-ing to Miss Miller Hutcheson, who is directing the show for the American Legion. |
