Show Milford Students Rate High at Festival Music students of the Milford High School made an excellent showing in the Region Six Music Mu-sic Festival held at Hurricane on April 22. Approximately 65 students from Milford participated partici-pated in the event, including the band and mixed chorus. The Mixed Chorus received a No. 1 rating, which is the highest possible rating, equivalent equiva-lent to a grade of from 95 to 100. The band received a No. 2 rating on their playing of contest numbers, a No. 2-plus rating on sight reading, and No. II rating on marching. Judges for the regional contest con-test were John Hilkerdorff of Provo High school, Farrell Mad-sen Mad-sen of B Y U, Elvis Terry of Lincoln High school, and H. J. Bird of American Fork High school. In each event the judges were highly complimentary compli-mentary of the work of the Milford students, especially in view of the fact that the Milford band includes a large number of seventh and eighth grade students stu-dents who do not have the years of experience which many of the other bands have had. The ratings received this year were much better than last year, and the students and their leader lead-er are to be commended for their untiring efforts in making the music department a success this year. Participating in the regional festival besides the students from Milford were bands and choruses from. 12 high schools and three junior high schools from Delta, Fillmore, Hinckley, Beaver, Parowan, Enterprise, St. George, Hurricane, Order-ville Order-ville and Kanab. |
