Show CITY COUNCIL HAS BRIEF SESSION Councilman Altman sat in the mayor's chair and presided over Wednesday's city council meeting meet-ing in the absence of Mayor E. L. Smith. Councilman Hickman also was absent. There' was little business to be conducted, aside from paying bills against the city, and the I meeting adjourned early. The city recorder was directed to contact Mr. Harden and determine deter-mine the reason for not collecting collect-ing garbage and trash for some time. t Councilman Bradfield pointed out that "a good many" lead-in wires on the Telluride system in Milford are bare, with frayed insulation dangling and blowing about in the breezes. All coun-cilmen coun-cilmen agreed this constituted a safety hazard as well as a fire hazard, and the matter was referred re-ferred to the city attorney. Councilman Anderson suggested sug-gested that a code system be devised de-vised for the fire siren, so firemen fire-men may tell from the sound of the siren what part of town the blaze is in, or whether it is a summons to an accident requiring requir-ing the resuscitator. This was referred to the fire department. A letter from Washingon advised ad-vised that the sum of $4950 has been appropriated to repay the city for haylift damage at the airport. Total cost of the repair job was only $2006, and efforts will be made to secure permission permis-sion to use the remainder of the appropriation for improvements and other repairs. |
