Show Of Interest to Women A VERY LOVELY bundle shower was given in honor of Mrs. Bill Kirk by her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. D. W. Muir, assisted assist-ed by Mrs. Ramona Smith, last Monday evening. Dainty gifts were presented to Mrs. Kirk by Mrs. J. A. Kirk, Mrs. Jerry Kirk, Mrs. Jean Hickman, Hick-man, Mrs. Helen Hickman, Mrs. Katherine Atkin, Mrs. Ruby Ash-worth, Ash-worth, Mrs. Nelouise Schow and Mrs. Ruth Beard. Cootie was played during the evening, after which refreshments refresh-ments were served. : THE FOLLOWING ladies were entertained at the home of Mrs. Toni Uffens, last Wednesday Wednes-day evening: Mrs. Nelda Memmott, Mem-mott, Mrs. Wilma Westergard, Mrs. Maudell Crane, Mrs. Phylis Keetch, Mrs. Lillian Anderson, Mrs. Alberta Goodwin, Mrs. Dorothy Dor-othy Morris and Mrs. Mabel Westergard. Bridge was played, with Mrs. Weston, Mrs. Westergard Wester-gard and Mrs. Memmott receiving receiv-ing the, prizes. Later in the evening Mrs. Uffens served cherry pie a la mode to her guests. THURSDAY, Feb. 3rd, Monte Carlo Whist was played at the home of Mrs. Lena Rae Rogers. Guests playing the game were Maggie Kay, Bobbie Henkel, Elnore Murdock, Irene Carter, Janet Root, Anna Mae Hickman, Patsy Stewart and Doris Gustav-son. Gustav-son. Ladies taking the prizes were Mrs. Gustavson, Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Carter. A spaghetti dinner was served after the game of cards. , TUESDAY EVENING was a very special event for Mrs. Ruth Lish, when she entertained her pinochle club and was later joined by her two sisters, Eve Young, a noted singer of New York, and Mrs. John Quist, also a singer at the Rainbow Gardens in Provo. Pinochle . players included Mrs. Faye Berger, Mrs. Fay Thompson, Mrs. Almeda Hol-brook, Hol-brook, Mrs. Donna Christensen, Mrs. Audrey Skillicorn, Mrs. Nona Perkins and Mrs. Lorelie Dawson. During the evening the ladies listened to Miss Young's new recordings, re-cordings, which will be released late this month. A VERY entertaining evening was had by the Lady Trainmen at the home of Mrs. Maudell Crane last Monday evening. Mrs. Jean Hanley assisted Mrs. Crane with the entertainment. Bridge was played, with Mrs. Melba White receiving a prize for high points, Mrs. Ina Norton, honors; Mrs. Rowena Winn, consolation, con-solation, and Mrs. Cleo Labrum the cut prize. Other players were Mrs. Theressa Pitchforth, Mrs. Zella Whiteside, Mrs. Ella Edwards, Mrs. ' Norma Yount, Mrs. Bobbie James, Mrs. lone Roberts, Mrs. Mary Gribble, Mrs. Eva Stonehocker, Mrs. Helen Bracken and Mrs. Belle Palmer. A very tasty luncheon was served by Mrs. Crane and Mrs. Hanley. E S C A L A NTE AUXILIARY No. 1546, V F W, met Tuesday, February 8th, in the I O O F hall, with President Norma Walters Wal-ters presiding. Despite the extremely ex-tremely cold weather, a large group of members attended. The Memorial Fund report was given, and plans were made for the second phase of the drive. Plans also were made for awarding award-ing membership badges for from five to fifteen years. Election of officers will be held at the March meeting. r. THE BIG FOUR bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Eva Banks last Monday evening. At cards Mrs. Lois Moore received the high points prize, Florence j Barnes, second high, and Mrs. Flora Cuddy, consolation. Other players included Mrs. Lora Bradfield, Mrs. Garnet Garfield, Mrs. Wanda Holm and Mrs. Kate Shingleton. A macaroni salad course was si served after the game of cards. ' ' BRIDGE was played last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Phylis Workman, with Norma Yount, Ina Norton, Fern Tanner, Nelda Memmott, Faye Berger, Wilma Weston and Lillian Lil-lian Mellor, enjoying the game. Prizes were won by Fern, Faye and Lillian. A tasty luncheon was served about midnight. MRS. IDOL, Mrs. Bohn, Mrs. Barrett, Mrs. Thorn and Mrs. Miller of Beaver were guests of Victory Rebecca Lodge No. 43, last Wednesday evening. An initiatory ceremony was given by the local degree staff. 1 After the business meeting was concluded, a delicious hot lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed. MRS. KENNETH HOLLIS entertained en-tertained her bridge club on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Lena Morris was awarded the prize for high points, Mrs. Cora Jones, honors; Mrs. Ricker-son, Ricker-son, -low, and Mrs. Pitchforth the house prize. Others present were Mrs. Pearson Pear-son and an invited guest, Mrs. Barnes. MRS. FRANK SULLIVAN was honored at a stork shower last Thursday, 'by members of Sego Lily Division No. 500, G I A, at the James P. Holm residence. She received a number of dainty as well as useful articles. A short business meeting was conducted by President Mrs. Ronald Banks. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon plate was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Robert Col-burn, Col-burn, Mrs. W. G. White, Mrs. James P. Holm and Mrs. Owen R. Smith. The rest of the evening was spent in playing bridge, with 1 prizes being won by Mrs. Verri Shingleton, Mrs. Fay Bradfield and Mrs. Delbert Fowles. Mrs. Joe Ryan drew the house prize and Mrs. Glen Barnes the raffle. Clever valentines were used as tally cards, and fancy heart-shaped heart-shaped cookies and candies added to the Valentine motif. Other ladies enjoying the evening eve-ning were Mrs. A. L. McDonald, Mrs. George Baker, Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mrs. Paul Crum, Mrs. H. C. Garfield, Mrs. Virgil Boucher, Mrs. Howard How-ard Lund, Mrs. Walter Carlton, and two guests, Mrs. Neil Hollis and Mrs. Baxter Lee. THE SILVER DESERT Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, met ,M last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wanda Holm. Mrs. Holm proved a very lovely hostess, serving the ladies before the meeting. A Valentine motif was carried out, and Valentines Val-entines were placed at each place. Heart-shaped decorated cookies and assorted cake and ice cream were served. Captain Ethel Nielsen presided over the meeting. The county book was discussed, and a vote of thanks was expressed to all those who have contributed their time to the book. The lesson, "The Move South," was given by Mrs. Emma Smith. "The Move South" tells the story of Johnston's Army approaching the mounains. Thousands of families in Salt Lake and surrounding sur-rounding settlements sought safety in towns to the south. Persons Per-sons whose ancestors were included in-cluded in the "Move' 'are requested re-quested to contact the officers of the Silver Desert Camp, so their story can be secured and arranged ar-ranged for publication. These v will be printed in the regular lessons, or the "Heart Throbs of the West," which will soon be issued in the tenth volume. The lesson for March will be "Dairying."
