Show JOHN PHILLIP JAMES DIES IN SALT LAKE John Phillip James, 74, retired mining man, died Thursday, May 20, at 3:15 p. m., at his residence in Salt Lake City, following a long illness. Mr. James was born Jan. 4, 1874, a son of Thomas and Ann Philip James. Most of his life, until he retired nine years ago, was spent in Beaver County. A prospector, mining executive, and bookkeeper, he had been employed at the old Frisco workings work-ings and many other Beaver County mining districts. In partnership part-nership with Hugh Sacket, he operated a general merchandise store at Frisco before moving to Milford. On October 6. 1897, he married mar-ried Sarah Slaughter, in Frisco. Besides his widow, he is sur-I sur-I vived by a son and two daugh ters. John Theron James of Se attle, Wash.; Mrs. Anna tviae Robison of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Evelyn Fehr of Salt Lake City: four brothers and one sister, Dean B. James and Bert James of Milford, Ernest James of Salt Lake City, Arthur G. James of Seal Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Rossiter of Butte. Mont. Six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City, Monday, May 24, with buriel in Mount Olivet Cemetery. |
