Show MINERSV1LLE STOCK SHOW DRAWS ENTRIES FROM ENTIRE COUNTY The biggest stock show in the history of Beaver County went off with a bang- last Saturday when 45beef cattle and 1.'! dairy cattle were exhibited at the Beaver County Livestock Show, held at the newly completed grounds in the southwest part of town. A fairly large crowd watched with avid interest as the judging progressed, pro-gressed, with Millard County Agent Rodney Richenback judging the beef entries, and Sevier County Agent Low Mar Price officiating at judging- of dairv cattle. . : Cattle were entered from South Milford, Beaver, and Minersville. Min-ersville. At noon, lunch was served at the school, and a dance was held in the evening at the high school gym. Vern Wood of Minersville, showing Maxine, won in the cow class, with Noel Wood taking second and third places with Alice and Rebecca. In the Hereford Here-ford heifer class, Vern again placed first, with Noel taking the second and third spots in both senior and junior divisions. Gordon Eyre, Noel and Victor Meyers finished in the order named in the Hereford heifer class. Grand Champion Female was shown by Gordon Eyre, with Vern Wood taking second sec-ond and third places. Bull Class In the bull class, bulls under 1 year, Jess McKnight of South Milford and Dean Carter of Rocky Ford has first and second place winners. In the Junior Yearling division, divi-sion, Noel Wood took first and Vern Wood second. Reed Smith & Son of Beaver showed the best yearling in the senior division, with Noel Wood taking second and Wood & Eyre, third. Best 2-year-old bull was shown by Wood & Eyre. Vern and Noel finished second and third in this class. ' In the aged bull class, Ralph Pearson of Minersville showed the first-place winner, with Jim Rollins of South Milford showing the second and third place ani-male. ani-male. Ralph Pearson had the Grand Champion Bull, Woods & Eyre, the second-place winner, win-ner, and Reed Smith of Beaver, Beav-er, third. The feeder steer showed by Wayne Gillins of Minersville took top spot in its class. Keith Rollins of South Milford was second, sec-ond, and Noel Wood third. Others Oth-ers showing feeder steers were Vern Wood, Rex Smith, Dale Eyre, Gilbert Yardley and Eugene Ward. Six Whiteface and two Shorthorns Short-horns were shown in the fat steer class. Noel and Vern Wood again took first and second place honors, with Rex Smith of Beaver Beav-er finishing third. Other exhibitors exhib-itors in this class, with all being graded "choice," were Delvin Smith of Beaver (2), and Noel and Vern Wood (3). Six animals were shown in the Milking Cow class. Net Craw had the best, with Elmer Marshall Mar-shall and Ty Gillins of Minersville Miners-ville coming in second and third. Jule Gillins had the best Dairy Heifer, Harold Baker, second, and Vern Wood, third. Only one Holstein heifer was shown, it being from the herd of M. J. Warr at Beaver. In the Dairy Bull class, the Minersville Dairy Association showed the best Jersey, and the best Holstein. I |
