Show HYBRID CORN FAVORED IN SOUTHERN COUNTIES According to a letter going to all farmers of Beaver County from Glenn T. Baird, county agent, the planting of hybrid corn is urged in this county. The Utah Experiment Station is now releasing a summary of the corn variety tests conducted over the state during the past few years, said Mr. Baird. In this summary sum-mary the superior performance of Minhvbrid 301 and U.S. 52 is em- phasized, but Minhybrid 301 is recommended over US 5 2 for all but one or two of the southern counties because: it is two weeks earlier; it grows two feet shorter; green weight compares with that produced by the taller hybrid, thus with shorter stalks you get the same weight but have less material ma-terial to handle. Orders for Minhybrid seed must be in Mr. Baird's office by Saturday, Satur-day, Jan. 11. Corn will produce more roughage per acre than any other crop, concluded Mr. Baird. |
