Mrs. Roylance thanked all " those participating for their timely and interesting contributors contribu-tors to a better understanding of problems discussed during the outstanding club meeting. Mrs. Roper played a medley of Christmas carols. Refresh-, merits were served and the next meeting was announced to be at the home of Mrs. Taylor Reynolds, December 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the form of a Christmas Christ-mas party. A gift exchange will be held. Modern cotton looms arc more than two yards long. Mrs. Sheldon Nielson was hostess to the Alpha Beta Club last Friday afternoon. Vice president Mrs. George Roylance was in charge and welcomed the members and guests, Mrs. Erma Roper, Mrs. Frank Lara-bee, Lara-bee, guest speaker, and Mrs. Edna Hill and her panel of girls. The pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Mrs. Sterling Ster-ling Price. An appropriate Christmas thought was given by Mrs. Thomas Smith. Following Follow-ing a discussion of a Christmas project, the club ladies favored a contribution to the Ettie Lee Boys Home. Favorite piano selections by Mrs. Erma Roper were enjoyed prior to the introduction of the guest speaker by President Mrs. Sheldon Nielson. Mrs. Hill, a social worker at the Provo City schools and the BYU. introduced intro-duced her panel of girls Char-lene Char-lene Johnson, Linnea Larscn and Beverly Rive, all teachers of retarded children in this area. Mrs. Hill presented a number of timely topics in the follow ing sequence which the panel of ladies discussed with authority and in an enlightening manner before the club ladies: The generation gen-eration gap, the new morality of today, the sensitivity group, teaching sex in schools and the drug problem. The panel met each topic with pointed viewpoints view-points in a most informative and intellectual manner. Some of the observations concluded that today's music leads to immorality im-morality because of the message mes-sage or messages conveyed. Sex in school depends on experiences experien-ces of home environment and instruction. Exploration, curiosity, curi-osity, and adventure lead to the drug habit. Many drug workshops are now being held by the governor's committee. Mrs. Hill brought the discussion discus-sion to a conclusion with this statement: "Problems exist in America today because of two things: lack of religious training train-ing in the home and need of development of the child-parent relationship." She pointed out that schools therefore will have to take over because of these factors. Mrs. Hill suggested, in |
