Show Astronaut will speak at public assembly Don Leslie Lind, Phd. and NASA astronaut, has been engaged en-gaged to speak in Springville at the Springville High School gymnasium Monday, May 8 at 11 a.m. The public is invited. He will be accompanied by his wife and parents. Mr. Lind, a native of Murray, Utah, graduated . from Jordan High School prior to receiving receiv-ing a bachelor of science degree de-gree with high honors in Physics Phy-sics from the University of Utah in 1953. He received his doctor of philosophy degree in high energy nuclear physics in 1964 from U. of California. Before his selection as an astronaut, he worked at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a space physicist. He holds the rank of Lt. Commander Com-mander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Re-serve. He has logged more than 1,400 hours flying time, which includes 1,100 hours in jets. He is one of the 19 astronauts astro-nauts selected by NASA in April, 1966 and is currently involved in training for future manned space flights. |
