Earl Johnson, District Engineer En-gineer of the Utah State Road Commission, was present to see what the mayor and council intend to do about parallel parking park-ing on main street. Mayor Packard requested the Utah State Road Commission hold a public hearing that they might determine if the street is of sufficient width to allow angle parking. Mr. Johnson inferred it wouldn't do any good even though the street is sufficient width to allow a left turn lane and two through traffic lanes of 12 and 13 foot width, and the angle parking lanes not extend- Martain Reed prepresenting the 4th and 10th Wards and Eldon Palfreyman, presented a petition peti-tion requesting permission to install curb and gutter on 3rd East between Center Street and 1st North on the east side of the street, with the privilege of having a two foot parking strip between the sidewalk and curb. The majority of the council felt it would be more desirable to have a five foot strip which would conform with that already al-ready installed. The council agreed his committee should be allowed more time to make a more complete study of it. Bishop Waldo Jacobsen and Council holds fast for angle parking (continued from page one) the city to receive 0.5 percent of the gross revenue derived from all telephone service. CI. James reported landscaping landscap-ing at the Civic center and work on the golf course would get underway next week. Max Knight of the 6th Ward Elders Quorum reported they have a real nice float which could be rented by the city and entered in the parades throughout through-out the county to advertise Springville as other communities communi-ties do, such as Spanish Fork, Pleasant Grove, Nephi and others. He is to report back to the next meeting on the cost to the city to enter six parades.
