Show All-around set as part of BYU Invitational Is there a high school track star within a 350-mile radius of Provo capable of scoring 7,343 points in BYU's Invitational Invita-tional all-around event? This mark "was set two years ago by Niel Robert of Cedar City. At first glance it would seem doubtful, but a call has gone out for any and all high school athletes who feel they have a chance of winning this year's event. Meet officials expect ex-pect 20 or 30 entries for next week's Invitational all-around event which is run over a two- day period. The 52nd annual Invitational is scheduled for April 23-24 in the Cougars' new stadium. The all-around is just one phase of a spring sports program that will include nearly 4,000 participants. partic-ipants. Twice in a two-year span (1962-63) the 6-4 Cedar City athlete left the previous record in shambles. Even in the worst kind of weather Roberts proved peerless peer-less as he placed first, or tied for first ,in all nine of the all-around all-around events. This was the first time in the 40-year history his-tory of the Invitational all-around all-around that this has happened. This year the nine events will be spaced over a two-day period. The pole vault, 100-yard 100-yard dash, high jump and shot put are scheduled for Friday afternoon. The discus, 180-yard javelin, broad jump and 440 will be run off on Saturday. |
