Show Track team will be strong at Y The saying that things look a little different in the sun- light may be true, but it's doubtful that BYU's track and field team will look any the less impressive when they move out-of-doors next week. BYU's track hopefuls wound up their indoor season Saturday Satur-day by , beating the best of Utah and Idaho State in a triangular tri-angular meet in the Smith Fieldhouse. Although no point totals were recorded, the Cougars Cou-gars took first place ribbons in all but one event, the pole vault. Clarence R.obinson's Cougars will open the season April 10 against University of California Califor-nia at Berkeley. He said: "Although "Al-though we may not have the depth or power to beat New Mexico, I feel we should be a stronger team than we were last year." Among the more impressive indoor performances were the following: high jump, Ted Win-field, Win-field, a junior, cleared 6'10"; high hurdles, Al Rockwell broke school record with :13.8 clocking; pole vault, Jim Prit-chard Prit-chard set new school record with 15'3-"; half mile, Bob Delaney set indoor mark with time of 1:52.7; Inter. Hurdles, Mike Douglas was clocked in :36.8; Dashes, Tim Russell won 100-yard dash consistently with :09.6's; shot put, Mike Bianco put the shot 57'6-" last Saturday; Sat-urday; 440, Bob Tobler is running run-ning indoor quarter in :48.5 or thereabouts. |
